Amazon.com For those who found 2004's Aliens vs. Predator too lightweight in the gore-and-guns department, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem offers a marked improvement in both categories, as well as a respectable amount of rumbles between the title extraterrestrials. Set in the 21st century (which predates the story to all of the Alien features), Requiem sends a crippled Predator ship crashing to Earth in a small Colorado town; unbeknownst to the locals, the craft is loaded with H.R. Giger's insectoid monsters, which make quick work of most of the population. As the human cast is slowly whittled to a few hardy (if unmemorable) souls, a Predator warrior also arrives to complicate matters and do battle with the Aliens, as well as a ferocious alien-Predator hybrid (dubbed a Predalien by the sci-fi and horror press). Visual-effects designers and music-video helmers The Strause Brothers (who make their feature directorial debut here) keep the action on frantic throughout, which is wise, since the dialogue and characters are threadbare at best; that should matter little to teenage male viewers, who are inarguably the film's key audience. Fans of the Alien franchise, however, may find the offhanded nod to the series' mythology given during the finale its sole saving grace. --Paul Gaita

Absolute junk! July 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The first AVP was watchable, but this sequel is the worst movie I've seen in many years. Not only is the story awful, but the action is so poorly directed, edited and photographed, the I often could not make sense of what was happening. But since the characterizations were so awful, I ultimately didn't care! What a stinker. Don't even waste your time on a rental. And why, oh why, do the studios put out junk like this on Blu-ray when so many DESERVING films are still waiting for a deluxe hi-def treatment? What a terrible waste!
This is What AVP Should Be! July 6, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
After seeing the horrible train wreck of AVP, I was nearly certain I would never see this film... and I am so glad I ignored my own advice. FINALLY (well, after one try) a bloody, scary, exciting, no one is safe, Aliens Vs. Predator. No more cushy PG-13 bullcrap, no, this is the real thing and while it's not incredible, and the story basic and the characters unforgettable, the action is just right. Yeah, it coulda been lit a little better, but I can forgive that for the sole reason that I now have virtually no memory of AVP as AVPR has replaced those nasty thoughts with something quite delightful.
Hooray!
Wish I could have seen the movie June 30, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This movie was pathetically dark. In some scenes, you couldn't see anything but black movements on a black background; frustrating when the scene is supposed to be crucial to the plot. Even the few daylight scenes seem poorly lighted, as if in a dream state. Once the plot settles to night and the cities power goes out, good luck trying to figure out whats going on.
The plot was decent, but the fight scenes everyone buys the movie for were impossible to see :-\
CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT's HAPPENING!!!!!! June 28, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
It is hard to understand what is happening after it gets dark. Most of the movie it is dark. But what I could see every time was good enough I guess. LIGHTEN UP THE MOVIE!!!!!!
Coulnd't watch the whole movie, the image is TOO DARK! June 28, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I don't know if the movie's good or bad, I could only watch it like 20 or 25 minutes because the image is TOO DARK. At some parts, I couldn't see what was going on in the movie. Is it the DVD transfer? Was it like this in the theatres?
I've written to amazon asking for a refund. I couldn't watch the whole movie! I had to turn off the TV because the screen was too painful to look at. Very disappointing.
