Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Warner Brothers The Bucket List (Blu-ray) "You measure yourselfby the people who measure themselves by you," says the quietly wise Carter Chambers, played with gravitas and grace by a Morgan Freeman. In Rob Reiner's moving, often hilarious film The Bucket List, all sorts of people measure themselves against thetwo heroes, Chambers and his hospital suitemate, Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson). But as Cole finds, having spent his entire life building a Fortune 500company, none of that much matters when cancer, the great equalizer, pays a visit. The film traces the adventures of the two unlikely friends, who meet in a hospital cancer ward, each given six months to live. The "bucket list" of the title refers to a lifelong list of goals that a teacher of Chambers once advised him to compile--and achieve--"before you kick the bucket." Soon the two are off on what may be the last grand adventure of their life, vowing to tick off as many goals (skydiving, race-car driving, seeing the wonders of the world) asthey can in the time they have left. What starts as a medical melodrama becomes a road trip, yet the men's mortality realities are never far from thought. The two leads give impressive performances, and remind the viewer of just how few American films focus on the lives and loves of senior citizens. Nicholson even manages to lose his persona in his character, much as he did in About Schmidt. There's a lovely John Mayer tune, "Say (What You Need to Say)," that's perfectly matched to the film's clear-eyed view of life: What does one person leavebehind as his true legacy?

5 out of 5 stars The Bucket List   January 7, 2009
Scarlet O'Hatter (St Petersburg Florida USA)
Oh my gosh. This movie was absolutely wonderful. I laughed cried, even some tears stained my husband's face. Very emotional movie. This is another flick to watch again again. Like "As Good As It Gets" "Driving Miss Daisy"! With these "2" Great Actors, Freeman Nicholson, you couldn't go wrong. No Violence or Drugs, what a breath of Fresh Air. It breaks that barrier where you don't judge a person by the color of their skin or how much $$ they do/don't have. We didn't get to see it @ the Movie so receiving this over the holidays as a Gift was an Inspirational Gift too. It ws completely diffferent than what I expected from previews. I give it **********! Really good movie to watch and watch again. Underlying message is one we should all take to heart. It's a keeper.

4 out of 5 stars Live Your Dreams   January 5, 2009

The movie "The Bucket List" depicts the relationship between two men dying of cancer and how their unlikely pairing helps fulfill the unmet needs of the other. The two men are admitted to the same hospital room. The corporate millionaire and the scholarly mechanic initially are not at all interested in one another. Their friendship begins after each receives their diagnosis and therefore has something in common. br / br /The scholarly mechanic begins a "bucket to do list" only to crumple it and throw it on the floor. The corporate millionaire finds it on the floor picks it up and reads it. He interrogates the scholarly mechanic and proceeds to add to the list. Soon both men are working together to complete the "bucket to do list" before they kick the bucket. The list varies from "sky-diving" to "kissing the most beautiful woman in the world." br / br /The Warner Brother Pictures movie features the always irreverent Jack Nicholson as Edward Cole, the corporate millionaire and the perpetually levelheaded Morgan Freeman as Carter Chambers, the scholarly mechanic. Rob Reiner directed the film. br / br /I enjoyed Jack Nicholson's wildness and Morgan Freeman's love of family and learning. Each has a missing piece in their life the other is destined to fill. They travel and do what many of us dream of doing. The most important "to do" item in the end is love of family. br / br /You will not want or be able to move for sometime after the movie ends. Your head will be spinning with thoughts about your own life's "bucket to do list." When your head stops spinning, go the movie's website where you can complete a Facebook Application and create your own list. br / br /I would recommend the movie to all ages. Each of us has a different life timeline but the message is the same: live your dreams. br / br /

2 out of 5 stars Not worth renting   January 2, 2009
Mark Shook (USA)
Most Hollywood movies of the last twenty years have a formula and this one is no different. This movie is another modern Hollywood piece of crap. br / br /It's completely predictable, unreal, sappy and boring. You already know what's going to happen when this billionaire (Jack Nicholson) gets put into a cheap hospital room with this poor Mechanic (Morgan Freedman). Of course they are both terminal and they don't like each other but you can tell that a relationship is around the corner. For one thing this situation would never happen EVER! and you can easily guess what's going to happen through the rest of the movie. br / br /If you want to see a great (sort of) recent Jack Nicholson movie that isn't predictable but depressing see "About Schmidt". It's about a Man that was forced into retirement and his world falls apart. You don't know where the movie's going and Nicholson underplays his character perfectly. br / br /If you don't really want to pay attention to a movie but know what's going to happen, watch "The Bucket List".

3 out of 5 stars 0ne lump or two? Cream and sugar?   January 2, 2009
Smegma Cheese (l got a hundred guns, a hundred clips 'coz l'm from New York, New York)
ls this movie a tale of two unlikely people going out in style together? 0r is it an hour and 4O minute infommercial for Kopi Luwak and Chock Full 0' Nuts coffee? Sure this movie summits Everest, but it also freefalls well past the jump zone.
