Before making iBatman/i, director Tim Burton and star Michael Keaton teamed up for this popular black comedy about a young couple (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin) whose premature death leads them to a series of wildly bizarre afterlife exploits. As ghosts in their own New England home, they're faced with the challenge of scaring off the pretentious new owners (Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Jones), whose daughter (Winona Ryder) has an affinity for all things morbid. Keaton plays the mischievous Beetlejuice, a freelance "bio-exorcist" who's got an evil agenda behind his plot to help the young undead newlyweds. The film is a perfect vehicle for Burton's visual style and twisted imagination, with clever ideas and gags packed into every scene. iBeetlejuice/i is also a showcase for Keaton, who tackles his title role with maniacal relish and a dark edge of menace. i--Jeff Shannon/i

5 out of 5 stars Great Tim Burton Horror Comedy   January 3, 2009

Beetlejuice is One of The Most Origanal and Funniest Movies I've Ever Seen. The Cast (Including Micheal Keaton as Beetlejuice) Were All Very Good at Playing Thier Charecters Very Well. The Spiecal Effects in The Film Were Very Good, Yet Slightly Chessy. br / br /The Special Features (Which Unfortanately There are Very Little of) Include 3 Great Beetlejuice Cartoons, an Excellant Music Only Track So You Can Sit Back and Relax While You lisen To Danny Elfman's Score, and 2 Great Trailers for Beetlejuice and Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. br / br /Overall Ratings: br /Movie-5/5 br /DVD-4/5

We ordered this for our annual movie-a-thon we have in our driveway on Halloween... still as funny as it was way back when.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice [Blu-ray] is a timeless classic with Michael Keaton providing an excellent performance. The afterlife concept of the film is excellent as well as entertaining; this film is a must for your video library... It's to be watched over and over again. br / br /The casting for this film is perfect, Michael Keaton is the outrageously funny and whacky witted (Betelguese - the afterlife's leading freelance bio-exorcist) with Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis playing (Adam and Barbara Maitland), a young couple that die prematurely. Adding to the cast are Jeffrey Jones and Catherine O'Hara (as Charles and Delia Deetz, and their Goth daughter Winona Ryder (as Lydia). br / br /One of the most hilarious scenes is the dinner party accompanied by Harry Belafonte's Banana Boat song `Day-O'. This is truly Tim Burton at his finest taking the significance of being dead and dousing it with humor. br /

5 out of 5 stars Blu-Ray Review   December 12, 2008

I give the blu-ray version of Beetlejuice five stars for the picture and sound quality alone. The improvements compared to the previous DVD release are HUGE. If I had to choose between warner spending money and time on a better transfer or more extra content, I would choose the better transfer. After all, how many times are you going to watch behind the scenes material or a commentary? It's been a decade since this film was released, so it would be difficult for Tim Burton or anyone involved in the film to remember enough material for a commentary or even for short featurettes. I'd rather have no commentary than a bad one. This comes with a CD sampler of the soundtrack which is a nice addition. I could care less about the episodes of the animated series even though I watched it as a kid. My favorite aspect of this release is seeing the detail on the stop-motion puppets, the surreal set design, and Oscar winning makeup. I can't recommend this enough.

1 out of 5 stars Why no uncut version   November 29, 2008

Come on now. how can you make a 20th anniversary deluxe edition without having the original version. Not to say it is not a great movie but hey there is no need to edit the movie just so you can show it on disney channel. I mean no offense but did the producers of this movie say hey why not edit it like a CD so we can sell it at walmart. Come on where is the love of a good movie.
