Amazon.com After being fired from UPN's primetime line-up, this animated series based on Scott Adams's nationally syndicated comic strip has received a well-deserved promotion to DVD. Dilbert, the bespectacled potato-shaped engineer with the upwardly mobile tie, is the poster boy for the corporately disenfranchised. Though Adams's cynical, cubicle eye-view of corporate culture was somewhat co-opted by IThe Drew Carey Show/I, animation gives the series a surreal flourish not possible in a live-action series. In the first episode, for example, we can see the devastation wreaked by an "all-natural" anthrax lozenge, and an interoffice riot sparked by budget cuts. Co-executive producer Larry Charles, whose resume includes ISeinfeld/I and IMad About You/I, wisely preserved Adams's Kafka-esque comic vision. Dilbert may "just want to make the world a better place," but that is difficult in a workplace where the Pointy-Haired Boss insists his employees first come up with a name for an as-yet-undeveloped product, employees literally give their souls to the company, and an evil cat reigns as an evil director of human resources loathe to help employees. As the old saying goes, it's funny because it's true. The voice cast are excellent hires, with Daniel Stern as Dilbert, Larry Miller as the clueless Boss, Kathy Griffin as sardonic co-worker Alice, and Chris Elliot as Dogbert. You don't have to have a refrigerator, cubicle wall, or computer festooned with yellowed IDilbert/I strips to appreciate the series. It will strike a beleaguered chord in fans of IOffice Space/I and IThe Office/I, or anyone toiling for a company that loves misery. I--Donald Liebenson/I

Amazing! December 21, 2008 Joshua Bouma A amazing TV show. To bad it was on the long gone UPN network. Hopefully if the DVDs keep selling they will make make more episodes so buy up!
hooked on animation October 13, 2008 M. Arthur (ohio) I was'nt a big fan of the show, however after picking up the complete series, i find it to be really good! Recommended!
EE on Dilbert Series July 5, 2008 Eng I. Neer (Madison, WI USA) For an engineer this is a must have (yeah, I'm an engineer). I could do without the spunky (?)intro music to each episode, but I can't stop watching them. br / br /I didn't get to see them when they were originally shown; heck, I didn't even realize there had been a whole season (probably too busy with all the, unpaid, overtime). br / br /The video and audio quality are very good. I am recommending them. Buy, watch, laugh, enjoy. br /
Funny. Worth the price... March 13, 2008 C. Heritage (Port St. Lucie, FL) If you like the Dilbert comic strip, buy the DVD. You should really enjoy it. I don't know why they still don't make these cartoons. They are very funny.
Horrible Adaptation of Wonderful Comic January 20, 2008 B. Wathen (Olathe, KS USA) 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought this hoping it would live up to the wonderful comic, however I was completely disappointed. Each episode tried to stretch the typically hilarious one liners of the comic strip into a 30min. comedy and it was a horrible disaster. I just kept waiting for jokes that never came and I finally gave up after 6 episodes. There was a reason the series was canceled after only one season. If you buy this thinking it will be at all like the comic strip you are going to be disappointed.
