Great movie, received in perfect condition June 20, 2008 F. Larsen (San Francisco Bay Area, CA USA) I think I received this movie on time (not important at the time). Great movie, had seen it at least twice before. Good story line, great action but family-friendly so I had no hesitation in letting our five and six year olds see it with us. Highly recommended.
One Of The Greatest Disaster Films Ever May 24, 2008 Geary A., Jones Pierce Brosnan, and Linda Hamilton both turned in fine performances in this delectible disaster film, but special effects rule the day here. I particularly loved the scene in which lightning dances through the billowing, gray, volcanic cloud. It is amazing how well the film holds up after 10 years of advances in graphics, and effects. I would highly recommend this to anyone that likes action, great visuals, and plenty of mayhem.
One of the Best Disaster Films April 14, 2008 Steven D. Hanks (Ohio, USA) Probably the best volcano inspired disaster film ever made. Now, that may not seem like high praise, but in an age of increasingly dramatic disaster films, Dante's Peak stands at the top (as well as at the beginning) of this revivalist format. Well worth the watch.
Love Dante's Peak March 13, 2008 S. Menard (Orange, Texas United States) I love this movie. It is great in Hi Def, but Toshiba threw in the towel, and now my HDDVD player is virtually rendered uselss.
Dante's Peak March 11, 2008 Kelly (Littleton, Colorado) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
In 1997 there were two eagerly anticipated volcano movies released. Dante's Peak was more of a blockbuster hit, with more entertainment value, but not very accurate from a geologist's standpoint. Had it been based on reality instead of Hollywood, they all would have died early in the movie. You can't drive through lava. Since it can get up to 2000 degrees, the vehicle would have perished immediately. I also don't know many metal objects like a small boat that can survive direct contact with acid elements and remain floating indefinitely. With all that said it was a good entertaining movie. Pierce Brosnan is always a must see!
