Black Adder - the Complete Collector's Set March 16, 2006 J. P. Carrithers (Indianapolis, IN) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Rowan Atkinson fans will love this collection. Atkinson surrounds himself with a gifted ensemble and together they create hilarious mischief in every episode. A real cure for the boring-TV-blues!
History was never as much fun as this! March 14, 2006 Rex Chickeneater (Armenia) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This five DVD set of the British historical comedy Blackadder offers hours and hours of laughs and entertainment. Rowan Atkinson is a marvelous actor, and he is joined throughout the series by a set of equally outstanding colleagues: Tim McInnerny, Stephen Fry, Miranda Richardson, Hugh Laurie, and last and least, Tony Robinson, who displays his genius in the always-present role of Baldrick. Disc Two (with Lord Blackadder in the era of Queen Elizabeth I) and Four (with him as a captain in World War I) are the cream of the cream, but there are plenty of excellent shows throughout. The final disc features Blackadder and Baldrick in the year 1999 traveling in a wacky time machine. One hopes that Atkinson decides to resurrect Lord Adder once again at a future date!
The top collection in the world for Blackadder fans. March 3, 2006 Mathew Dollimore (Melbourne, Australia) 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
This is the single best collection of the Blackadder series in the world containing all the major Blackadder series plus the one off's such as "Back and Forth", "Christmas carol" and one until the pack came I didn't know happened "cavalier years". Filled with a great detail of the historical characters they gleefully slaughter, in case you are interested in the real figures. Fans of the US series House will also enjoy Hugh Laurie's work in the series as "George". So fans if you haven't got this go now. Or people just wanting to see how a comedy series should be, get this and rejoice in all that is "Blackadder".
Not so great February 20, 2006 Curren Mclane 3 out of 20 found this review helpful
I am usually a big fan of Rowan Atkinson, but I just am not a big fan of Black Adder. It does have it's funny moments, but it isn't my favorite British Comedy by any means.
3rd rate, not funny and plain stupid December 17, 2005 Patrick (Germany) 5 out of 150 found this review helpful
This is the kind of comedy that isn't funny, yet people believe it is funny. The only series out of this that has anything funny on it is the second. But the rest is just crap. Rowan Atkinson is probably one of the most over-rated comedians around. If you want to get into some funny, and I mean FUNNY british comedy, get Bottom.
