Brit Com at its best! February 16, 2007 William Fletcher (Pineville, LA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Blackadder is a necessary, if not the necessary, British comedy television show to watch. Pure cunning, dry wit, and ruthless sarcasm abound in this set containing all episodes of the series.

exelent show! very very funny! you really should get this...i cant exactly describe how funny it is, its its own kind of hillarious!
A Unique. January 11, 2007 Robert Morris (Connecticut) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Black Adder, in sequential episodes from the medieval to World War I and beyond, is like nothing you've seen before. Words and action are elaboratly mounted, sophisticated, acerb, elegantly rude and achingly funny. Nearby comments on Monty Python apply here and as well to Fawlty Towers. Love one, you'll love all three.
double entendres that don't stop January 9, 2007 Teacher's pet (Tennessee) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Spoof! from sneaky humor to outrageous howlingly funny. Great escapist entertainment. You see history that never was (fortunately!) Various historical characters with hysterically funny renditions. Black Adder (Rowan Atkinson) plays all the Adder sons over the centuries and of course, figures as a central (if off center) personality in each major event of English history (and some that maybe never happened, but should have.) Sexually suggestive in places! Downright bawdy in others. A real hoot! Every episode is wonderful! Then the last one, while funny, is very poignant.
Remember when people had conversations? January 6, 2007 silversea86 (Texas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Watching this show, it occurred to me you don't see too many shows where people actually have whole conversations. Shows where dialogue drives the plot instead of UST or explosions or the soundtrack... Ahh, them were the days. There are so many things to love about this show, I will but name a few: costumes, sets, plots, dialogues, funny characters, Rik Mayall as Flashheart, the insults, the metaphors You get the idea. Now go get the DVDs! (BTW, on a couple of the special features that Tony Robinson -Baldrick - narrates, it sounds like he gets cut off before completing a description. I'd be interested to know if this has happened for anyone else.)
