4 out of 5 stars Great sound, poor video quality, okay plot for blockbuster.   January 19, 1999

I bought Twister at the same time I bought my DVD player. This title made me realize what Dolby Digital AC-3 sound is all about. It took full advantage of the cababilities and justified the expense of my player. The picture quality, while clear seemed somewhat grainy on my player. The plot is okay for a blockbuster. I rated it four stars because the sound made it a good DVD movie.

4 out of 5 stars The best sound demo to show off your home theater!   January 9, 1999

Sure the plot and story were pretty bogus, but the tornados were the the main star of the show that people came to watch. The sound of these suckers was fantastic.

This mocie was great...It had action and special effects thru the whole thing not just parts of it. Great tornado effects. The cow was totally awesome. I think this movie is a must get for anyone who likes disaster movies.

5 out of 5 stars very exciting, without senseless violence   December 30, 1998

I am not a fan of the type of disaster movies when you just wait for the band of characters to get killed off one by one ( ex: Dante's Peak, Armageddon) This movie is more about the tornados and trying to get measurements of them then the violence that they cause. There is the occational mishap when Helen Hunt and paxton get caught in the tornado but there is very few deaths.

2 out of 5 stars GREAT SPECIAL EFFECTS BONANZA, HOWEVER IT'S ACTING STUNK   December 23, 1998

I would only recommend TWISTER for it's action and effects not it's acting. BILL PAXTON and HELEN HUNT'S characters are pretty lame and uninteresting as is the rest of the cast I've seen better acting by grade-schoolers. The only real reason to see this movie is it's great effects which are awsome to say the least wait till the cast encounters a F-5 tornado. How big and fast it is I won't give away but that's the only reason to see this movie at all.
