Blu Ray is stunning with this old movie! May 29, 2008 Heath S. Vela (Amarillo, Tx) It's great on my 1080p.... but it's old pictures but overall its bit better than you seen on DVD.
PURE EXCREMENT. FOX DOES IT AGAIN. May 27, 2008 Corey Gunnestad (Los Angeles, CA USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Do not under any circumstances purchase this blu-ray DVD. Decorum prevents me from using certain unsavory verbage to accurately describe this item but I will try all the same. Let me put it this way: If you accidentally dropped this DVD on your lawn, flowers would grow there because this DVD is crap. Let's just put aside the fact that Fox opted not to include any of the extras from the regular DVD release from a few years ago. Knowing this going in, I bought it anyway thinking that the superior video and audio quality alone would justify the purchase. Nope. The picture is appalingly bad. Fox didn't even bother to clean the print up for the transfer, so all the dust particles and artifacts from the print can now be seen in High Def. Bravo, Fox. What's more, Fox is commanding top dollar for this P.O.S. Suggested retail price is $29.95, a price range reserved for the higher end blu-ray DVD's with superior quality and gobs of extras. It's barely worth $9.99 and that's being generous. Avoid this one like the plague. If someone gives you this DVD, use it as a coaster because it isn't good for much else. Maybe target practice. Don't buy COMMANDO either, that one sucks too. If Fox messes up FIGHT CLUB this badly, I will be royally pissed. Right now I'm just annoyed. You are on probabtion, Fox. Get on the ball or get out of the game.
Run through the jungle action May 27, 2008 Jeremy Jarnagin (Seoul, Tokyo, Kansas the world Dude) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Look there goes Arnold running through the jungle shooting large guns and keeping his dialogue to a minimum. His friends are doing the same thing only they are getting killed. If you like movies that have high popcorn value then you should buy this Bluray disc. It is the best transfer so far of this movie available in any video format. If you have seen the DVD versions of this movie you will know what I'm talking about. They are all washed out and super murky. There are still some problems with this transfer of course- it is anything but perfect but it still looks pretty good for an action film from the 80's. If you want this movie for special effects or to show off your great bluray system this isn't the disc for you. However if you just want to watch a decent scifi movie filled with blood and frantic alien chase scenes then break out the popcorn- send the kids to bed and prepare to watch some mindless action and 80's style jungle warfare violence.
Great Movie May 22, 2008 Jolene Pirrone This movie is way cool AND the special features included in this set are actually worth watching. The "making of's" are pretty interesting.
ARNOLD'S BEST May 22, 2008 Reviewer I'd say this is one of the best movies Arnold ever made - if not the best. It was very well written, the acting was great all around, and the special effect were also good. The Predator itself has got to be one of the most realistic aliens ever created, outside of Alien itself. I guess that's was spawned AVP. Also, quite brilliant. Anyway, this movie is very enjoyable, with great jungle scenes, action, suspence, a good story, even a great soundtrack, etc.. This one will stand the test of time. I would contrast it with Commando for example - which was just silly fun. This movie is a world away from Commando. It's great!
