History made enjoyable October 24, 2008 E. M. Taylor (Las Vegas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It's obvious why this television series won so many awards. It's amazing. I only wish that taking history in school could be as interesting.
history for all October 24, 2008 Mary D. Howland (usa) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I highly recommend the John Adams series which brings history to life. They have done an amazing job at creating a Boston of the founding era as well as Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. John Adams was the first president to live in the White House which seems to have been surrounded by mud.
Extraordinary - Inspirational October 23, 2008 Stephen Ashley (Florida, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't say enough about this mini-series. It was a five star on every level. It was totally entertaining and it always kept us pulled into the story. The acting was incredible and raw. Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney gave amazing performances. It was fascinating from a historical perspective. I learned so much, and I was so absolutely inspired by the story of John Adams and his family. This series showed the power of conviction John Adams had, but it also showed his imperfections of those of others. I also learned a lot about how they lived back then. It was so interesting! The relationship between John Adams and his wife was explored in depth. As amazing as he was, his wife was also incredible. Laura Linney did an outstanding job portraying her. The sets and costumes were well done. The script was engaging and moving. I have to say that each week this series kept us wanting more. Honestly I'm a guy who generally doesn't like period movies, but this really appealed to me anyway. Bottom line: I would recommend this movie to anyone with an interest in American history or politics, and to anyone who likes a good drama. Really I would recommend this movie to anyone!
Very Good Movie for History Buffs October 22, 2008 Craig Burress 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If any one wants to get a detailed and accurate look into the twilight of our nation's history through the eyes of one of our greatest fouding fathers than check out this mini-series. All the leading actors were at the top of their games. Laurie Linney's Emmy award winning portrayal of Abigal Adams was dead on! Highly recommend!

Saw this series originally on HBO and have used it in my classroom to give the kids a better idea of how things went before the revolution. The kids liked it and it was informative. Also used the subtitles that tells information about daily customs during the time period.
