Mr Bean's Definitive and Extremely Marvellous Guide to France May 14, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Absolutely brilliant. I bought it for my 11 year old son in advance of seeing the Holiday movie but before he set eyes on it I just had to read it cover to cover. I knew he would like it but his response was even more enthusiastic than that. He insisted on taking it to school to show his French teacher! The style is hilarious, Bean at his best, and good clean fun, quite a rare commodity these days. He explores the French language, he writes to and receives letters from Heads of State and their representatives, and others, commenting with suitably acerbic notes. He even validates those rubbish photos everyone takes for no particular reason. Unreal. It is longer than I expected but is good to the last word so it is excellent value for money. In addition it also gave my craft orientated 10 year old daughter and myself ideas for scrapbooking! Mr Bean says if you buy this book you won't need to go to France, I say if you read this book you will want to go and see for yourself!
