George Cole take on his Charater 'Henry Root' Superbly.......almost 'Arthur Dailey' but without his faithful Minder. However, Pat Heywood (Henry's wife)takes on this roll perfectly......always doing her best to keep him out of trouble with the locals in each location they visit. No stop barrel of laughs on just how a traditional Englishman finds himself exploring the, what he thinks are 'peasent ways and traditions' as they sail through France, then race into Italy, then onto Amsterdam where the local Hash cake is tested, before meeting the Cheif of Police which makes for an interesting meeting. Begium and Germany are visited, and provide further laughs as he manages to insult almost everyone with his off the cuff remarks. Henry finds himself an outcast in most of the places visited, his opinions branded old fashioned. However, he does manage to find some like minded people, trying to hold onto their local traditions too. A must see for everyone.
