Amazon.co.uk Review This hapless comedy may actually work a lot better on video than it did in theatres. A parody of contemporary mob movies (with a few sidebars skewering such hits as IForrest Gump/I and IThe English Patient/I), IMafia!/I most closely resembles the first two IGodfather/I films in its generational saga of a gangster family. Lloyd Bridges plays Don Cortino, a native Sicilian who presides over a crime syndicate, and Jay Mohr plays his Michael-Corleone-like son. The film is by Jim Abrahams, formerly of the Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker directing team (IAirplane!/I, IThe Naked Gun/I), single-handedly trotting out the old dumb-joke aesthetic that worked wonderfully a lifetime ago but looks a little creaky in the era of IThere's Something About Mary/I. Silly allusions to every crime film (IGoodFellas/I, ICasino/I) produced in the last three decades and featuring at least one wise guy or made man find their way into IMafia!/I's gags, but most are arbitrary and shrugged off. The film tanked in theatres for good reason; on the other hand, IMafia!/I might have a lot more to offer if you're slumped on your own couch at the end of a long day, ready for brain-dead entertainment and absolutely apathetic about comic integrity. Even a film this instantly stale on the big screen might have its place in video posterity. --ITom Keogh/I

Absolutely Dire!! July 31, 2008 This has got to be one of the worst films that I have ever bought or seen. My husband and I punished ourselves for over half an hour by watching it, before finally switching it off and watching a blank tv set instead. That was definitely more entertaining and slightly more funny!!
Not bad, not outstanding October 16, 2007 Bit slapstick, some good bits ,juvenile airplane type humour.br /Starts off well but seems to tire half way through.br /OK for light hearted viewing, not bad not outstanding.Do not need to see again.
Might enjoy December 24, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Depending on your sense of humour, this little film might be very entertaining or a complete waste of time. Sure helps if you understand all the spoofs. Corny, predictable enough, but worth watching just for the guard sheep. I loved it.
A must! August 16, 2004 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
A serious must see, especially if you love your mafia movies or are from italian/sicilian decent

Yep it is another one of those movies in the "Airplane" genera. When theydo not try to hard some of the areas are funny. One really has to be inthe mind set for this movie. If you have seen others like "Airplane" thenthis movie will not be as impressive as it could be. If this is your firstforay in to the world of puns and parodies it holds its own.
