Amazon.co.uk Review This inevitable sequel finds Jim Carrey reprising his role as the world's greatest pet detective. His latest case, the disappearance of a rare African white bat, draws him out of his spiritual retreat at a Tibetan monastery following the tragic outcome of his previous case. That traumatic experience, which makes for a hilarious opening-scene send-up of the Stallone thriller ICliffhanger/I, prompts Ace to venture to Africa, where he goes native with the tribe that hired him to find their symbolic bat. From that point anything goes, with Carrey pushing the boundaries of good taste (what, you were expecting good taste?) up to and including his now-infamous "birth" scene from the backside of a mechanical rhinoceros. Lighten up, and don't be ashamed if you find yourself laughing. --IJeff Shannon, Amazon.com/I

not as good as the first one, but still hilarioius December 25, 2007 Not surprisingly, this sequel is not as funny as the first Ace Ventura movie, but it is still hilarious and well worth seeing, especially if you like Jim Carrey and his physical comedy. The first Ace Ventura movie is an absolute classic of maniacal physical comedy, so it would have been very hard to top that. Nonetheless, if you liked the first one, you should get a lot of laughs out of this one too. Plenty of wacky nature scenes, funny animals, and car driving like only Ace can do it. Where does it rank with Carrey's other comedies? It's not as good as the top four: the first Ace Ventura, The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, and Liar Liar. But it's not that far behind either. oh dear what a catastrophy! March 10, 2006 2 out of 9 found this review helpful
I got this DVD out hoping for a good laugh apart from a few funny scetches the majority of this film is very slow going with alot of close ups of jim carey pulling funny faces most of the time which became so annoying we both desided to have a break and dindn't watch the end which is a first for me.
What did they cut? March 3, 2006 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
This film is great, but don't get the UK version, several scenes are cut for example, the warrior stands on Ace's crotch to rip the spears out his legs, something you don't see on the UK version, there are quite alot of cuts that made me regret buying this dvd, get the region 1 US import, don't go for an edited cut!
Liiiike a Glove! October 3, 2005 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
This film is amazingly funny! I would exchange this for my house its that good! This is funnier and a better plot than the first film. Ace Ventura (Jim Carrey) is sent on a mission to find a missing bat of the Wachootoo tribe. Little does he know that the person he is hired by is the villian and hid the bat to cause a war between the local tribes. As Ace hates bats, this is his toughest mission yet! For 7, this is a bargain! A MUST buy, even if you havent seen the first one! Thanks for reading!
Brilliant film. April 4, 2005 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've lost count of the amount of times I have seen this film, but it's certainly amusing.pOddly enough when I was younger I thought this film was better than the original, but having watched them both recently, I've realised that the second one wouldn't be half as funny without the first one behind it.pJim Carrey is great in this film, particularly the bit with the splinky (those who have seen it will understand) and the bit with the spears - although it is simple, he pulls it off so well and it's highly amusing.pA very lively and amusing film.pEVERYONE should see this film.
