This is a must have DVD for any dinosaur fanatic. It is based on the book the lost world by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It is more or less along the same story line as the book but a lot better, and some new characters added to make the story line more interesting.br /br /It is not the best dinosaur film but at the same time it is by no means the worst as it is not far behind the Jurassic Park films.br /br /It is basically about two men who are trying to prove each other wrong as to wither the lost world exists or not. Therefore to prove either way the two men bring together an expedition group and go in search of the prehistoric world that has been lost through time and become a myth.br /br /This film does have blood and gore as it is a dinosaur film and most of the prehistoric dinosaurs that the film shows are the big flesh eating dinosaurs such as T-rex, as well as the fast and deadly Velociraptor.br /br /Not much else can be said as it will spoil the story line. But basically if you love dinosaur films you will love this film too. There is something for most tastes; a love plot, adventure, a bit of gore, etc. The special affects and visuals are amazing.
Stick with Jurassic Park. August 28, 2001 4 out of 13 found this review helpful
What can I say? I accidentally acquired this DVD whilst trying to obtain the original 1928 Lost World which inspired Jurassic Park. What I ended up with was this and I was not pleased with the results. Unless you make the same mistake as this reviewer I can see no reason for you to ever purchase this film. Clearly the makers intended to profit from the boom in demand for 'dino' monster movies with special effects. This film falls short of the mark. The effects are poorly computer generated on a budget clearly provided for TV. The acting is poor. But the real falling down is the script and the storyline. It is hard to feel empathy for the characters, in fact it is rather satisfying when they are slowly removed from proceedings, if only we could see more of their gruesome deaths, but the budget did not stretch that far. There are a couple of elements in here that had potential to work - like the presence of a group of prehistoric humans - but the good ideas are poorly executed. The features consist of a mere 10 chapters, and the presentation trailer, although this is probably better than the movie and all you need to see. Do not buy this movie in the hope of a fun JP imitation, its poorness is simply frustrating and you will be left regretting wasting your time never mind your money.
