Amazon.co.uk Review Expanding their one-joke skit from US television's ISaturday Night Live/I, Chris Kattan and Will Ferrell are Doug and Steve Butabi, the wearers of the rayon suits and Speedo trunks who bob their heads in unison to dance music while unsuccessfully preying on women in clubs. What's funny in a three-minute piece doesn't always get funnier by expansion, but Kattan and Ferrell give it a go with fellow SNL member Molly Shannon as their ambitious neighbour. By day they work in their father's fake-plant store. By night they prowl the club scene after spraying on the cologne in their gauchely decorated bedroom. A fender-bender with Richard Grieco (playing himself) gets them into the popular club the Roxbury, but it's not all good news, as the brothers soon find themselves torn apart. Doug and Steve are pathetic but lovable, mostly due to the actors' talents for self-deprecating humour. All gifted comedians, Kattan, Ferrell, and Shannon obviously feel comfortable around each other, and their love triangle (which prompts send-ups of ISay Anything/I and IJerry Maguire/I) is the funniest joke in this mostly lame comedy. Too bad, because it clocks in at about 80 minutes and could have run on television as a pretty good episode of SNL, which has been known to get a bit lame itself. --IShannon Gee/I

Fantastic 80's roller coaster January 22, 2008 Ive had this in video and dvd for years. Its that funny, youve gotta watch it.
UNFUNNY AND QUITE TIRING August 26, 2007 A Night At The Roxbury is very unfunny, as It took me a while to get through it, as I was only amused a couple of times, and it gets quite silly when the brothers get into a huge fight and way too sappy, plus while Chris Kattan, and Will Ferrell make a good team are way too annoying, as I just felt like slapping them, plus what was a quality character actor like Dan Hedaya doing in this he was OK but I often wondered why.The soundtrack is great no doubt about that, and it has a decent cast, but the problem is gets too tiresome way too quickly and never once did I laugh out loud, plus The ending was pretty stupid in my opinion. Most of the Saturday Night live movies are pretty lame in my opinion, as they get too tiresome too quickly, and I just don't find 2 morons bopping there heads throughout amusing, plus Thankfully Will Ferrell has moved onto bigger and better things. Overall this is an Unfunny tiresome film that I say you pass on unless you have something better to do. *1/2 out of 5.br /br /The Acting is OKbr /br /Will Ferrell is OK here but not as funny as usual, he also tends to over do it at times, and I just found his character more irritating then anything else, not one of his better performances. Chris Kattan is even more annoying he is so unlikable and selfish, I just didn't find anything funny about him. Richard Grieco plays well himself. Loni Anderson and Dan Hedaya are amusing but not much else as the parents. Lochlyn Munro is unfunny in his role I didn't laugh once. Molly Shannon is somewhat amusing, but never laugh out loud funny as Emily who is obsessed with Ferrell. The rest do OK as cameos and short roles

This movie is so funny that will make you laugh all the time...than the soundtrack is wonderful, there are all the dance songs played in clubs in 90's!!! If you like dance music and laughing you cannot watch this movie!
Great Soundtrack August 30, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well, it's really a film you know you shouldn't like, but is undeniably funny. It's not classicaly great, but very enjoyable from the start. The club idea is actually a winner, and Chaz Palminteri is great as the owner. With an awesome soundtrack, it's a mix between Wayne's World and Night Fever. And there's some good dancing
do not buy!! August 3, 2004 1 out of 20 found this review helpful
This has been has been the most dissapointing film i have watched in a long, long time. The soundtrack is awful, the jokes are unbelievably cheesey, the two main characters are pathetic and the outfits are atrocious.brConsidering that 'Saturday Night Live' gave us the brilliant Blues Brothers, what possesed them to make a film about these two morons is beyond me.
