Amazon.co.uk Review
iSee No Evil, Hear No Evil/i is a comedy thriller about disability that teeters perpetually on the brink of execrable taste, but more often ends up being bland. Brash blind Wally (Richard Pryor) and mild-mannered, cute deaf Dave (Gene Wilder) form a working partnership based partly on mutual regard and partly on desperation. A man is killed at the counter of their cigar store and neither of them can quite account for their actions or identify the killer, Eve (Joan Severance). They find themselves arrested and subsequently on the run. Eve and her henchman--a surprisingly sinister Kevin Spacey--pursue them remorselessly, searching for a gold coin that is more and less than it appears. Mild sexual chemistry between Wilder and the villainess is perhaps one of the few elements here not entirely watered down from late-period Hitchcock. Playing disability for slapstick is perhaps not the most enlightened way to increase sympathy for the disabled: this is a crass film whose good intentions are more than usually fragile. pbOn the DVD/b: the disc includes a rather smug featurette and filmographies of the two stars. --IRoz Kaveney/I

5 out of 5 stars True Comic Genius   September 26, 2008
True Comic Genius Indeed. Wilder Pryor truly brought out the best in one another, and with "See No evil..." this is no exception.br /br /"tis funny how natural comedy could be produced from life's most mundane moments!br /br /Certainly one of my favourite "Pryor, Wilder" flicks!

4 out of 5 stars More than entertaining!   May 23, 2008
I really enjoyed this movie, perhaps more than I would have if I knew anything about it before buying.br /The main plot is based around two characters, who both have disabilites. The one character is blind, the other deaf. In turn, this sets up for some hilarious events to unfold.br /As I said, this film is based purely around these two. The story kicks off with a murder in a shop of which the two main characters work in. A woman shoots a man. The two of them seemingly from a company of organised crime. You would think that the woman wouldn't get away with it seeing as how it happened in front of two people... There is just one problem... The deaf man didn't hear it and the blind man didn't see it. This means that the two are suspects.br /The two end up going to prison (the scenes here are laugh-out-loud funny) and then them trying to escape.br /br /I urge you to give this movie a try, I'm sure you'll very much enjoy it!

5 out of 5 stars ARE YOU BLIND, CAN'T YOU SEE I'M TALKING TO YOU?   September 24, 2007
If you have a vivid imagination and an incredible sense of humour, then you are halfway to understanding how funny this film is. Made in the heyday of the late Richard Priors' career it is an almost satirical look at the afflictions of the blind and deaf. Fortunately it does not cross the line(I know because I am 75% deaf) and therefore is very funny.br /Wally (Richard Prior) and Dave (Gene Wilder) are witness ????? to a murder, Wally didn't see it and Dave didn't hear it but they are both wanted for it. The real killers (no spoilers) and the police are after them so they take the law into their own incapable hands and the results are incredibly funny. Only the team of Prior and Wilder could have made this film as hilarious as it is because they have that special rappor that works beautifully.

4 out of 5 stars Great stuff   September 4, 2007

A funny film, staring two film greats Richard Pryor (RIP) and Gene Wilder. Wally and Dave are complete opposites, Wally is loud, brash and blind while Dave is quiet, polite and deaf. When a murder is committed at Wallys shop these two are the only witnesses, but Wally didn't see it and Dave didn't hear it! After being arrested the pair go on the run, with with cool killer Eve right on there heels. With helarious results. Well worth watching.

4 out of 5 stars Wilder and Pryor act as one in one funny flick   May 21, 2007

Plot is interesting and the duets between Wilder and Pryor are surely over the top....really it's one of the funniest comedies of all time....Pryor is at his best and the scene of the car is simply anthology....the movie also is interesting for the appearance of Kevin Spacey in one of his first roles...he is perfect in the shape of a gentleman English killer....Joan Severance is simply amazing, the scene in which she is forced to slip away her towel by a hard-on Gene Wilder is one of the funniest and sexiest ever seen....ending, the movie is a corn stone of the American comedy
