5 out of 5 stars Just a note...   December 28, 2008
It's said that a reviewer asked Vadim why he opened the film with the free-fall strip. He said "Plenty of people who don't care about science fiction will watch it just to see Jane Fonda nude, so I put that at the start so they didn't have to sit through the rest!"br /br /Just to say that anyone who did walk out as soon as the credits had finished floating over Fonda's skin would have missed an erotic treat as well as a comic one.

1 out of 5 stars YAWN!   July 3, 2007

Highly over rated, immature, infantile nonsense! Avoid it the same way you would the black death.

5 out of 5 stars CULT STATUS   February 9, 2007

Wierd, charmingly innocent, costumes ahead of their time, including the legendary g-string, and a Jane Fonda you actually like because of her innocence. Plastic sets a plenty, lots of dry ice, but in there too are snipets of intellect, silly pink/red pencil sharpener spaceship with fake fur interiors merely add to the enjoyment.Even "the essence of man", for ladies who want to taste rather than feel the sense.Kinky leather robots with whips. Like I said, strange, but pure fantasy.

4 out of 5 stars Hippy love fest! Enjoyable   March 16, 2005

If there was ever a film that reflected the nature of the 60's hippy revolution then this is it. It has that much lovin and nude frolicking that you might think that this is a dirty movie but as the film progresses you start thinking that this is a pretty good film and the fun frolicks are just a bit of fun! It has all the things a good sci-fi movie should have and more, including an excellant bad guy called 'Duran Duran!' brGood film all round.

5 out of 5 stars Queen of the Galaxy   December 15, 2004

I first saw this movie in a small theater outside West Point, NY in 1968. I remember the theater as it had moths on top of the popcorn in the dispensing machine. The movie was innovative for the time. And one of the characters is Duran Duran the inspiration for the band by the same name.pIn the 41st-century astronaut Barbarella (Jane Fonda) receives a message from the President of Earth (Claude Dauphin) and is tasked with a mission to track down a threat to the earth, the scientist Duran Duran (Milo O'Shea,) inventor of the "positronic ray." On her quest she must go through many trials and tribulations. We get to experience them vicariously. Put your tongue back in.pWill she find Duran Duran before it is too late?pWhen Jane looks back on her extensive career this will be her crowning performance. She never really re-captured that Barbarella spark.pI think that Barbarella inspired the opening scene of "My Stepmother is an Alien."
