Amazon.co.uk Review Most critics couldn't get behind Bill Murray's modern retelling of Charles Dickens' IA Christmas Carol/I, finding it too unfocused at times and not nearly wicked enough. Still, if you are a Murray fan, you have to enjoy his deliciously nasty portrayal of the world's meanest TV executive, who has his cathartic moment one cold Christmas night in New York City. The various ghosts lead him on a ghost-town tour of Manhattan, with stops at holidays past, present and future and a Kumbaya moment when Al Green and Annie Lennox sing "Put a Little Love in Your Heart". The effects are otherworldly, but one wishes the writing were as sharp as Murray's edgy portrayal. --IMarshall Fine/I

Scrooged November 24, 2007 This film is BRILLIANT to watch. This movie may have not worked well if it was different actor but perfectly well with Bill Murray. Very very funny movie and it was worth it to watch but better nearer Christmas time. Also I have to say this film help me to bring out in festive mood. Excellent movie.
If you touch me again Imma rip your goddam wings off, Okay!!!! September 11, 2007 Charles Dickens Scrooge has been re told many times but this one is definetly up there with my favorite christmas films. The Brilliant Bill Murray plays Frank Cross a highly strung TV Network president who hates xmas, children, goodwill to all men and chinese food. After a real low where Frank turns his networks christmas carol show into a charlie mason special he is visited by the ex head of the network (who is dead) who tells him that he will be visited by three ghosts. Enter the hysterical nyc cab driving ghost of xmas past. From then on the film is a wild ride to meet the sadomasicist fairy ghost of xmas present and the scary ghost of xmas to come, along the way Frank is taught about all the people around him that he choose not to care about with both hiliarious and touching results. Everyone is fantastic in this film and it's one of those films that kids could happily watch and adults too. By the end you will have a lump in your throat as this film embodies the spirit of xmas without being overly slushy and sentimental. And to top it all off youve got a magic ending with a brilliant soundtrack with Annie Lennox and Areatha Franklin singing 'put a little love in your heart'. If you only buy it to watch once a year it would be worth it. This Scrooge has it all!!!
Fantabulous! February 25, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bill Murray has to be one of the greatest actors ever because he is just in the best films and acts in them so well, and Scrooged is no exception. He plays a brilliant baddie and, although I was only 4 when this film came out, it is one of those films that you can watch again and again. A timeless classic that will always be one of those films you can watch not only at Christmas but all-year round and find it funny!
An excellent Christmas Story November 25, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I actually can't believe that this film is 18 years old. A remake of a classic it has Bill Murray playing (brilliantly I might add) an arrogant, horrid TV executive who has forgotten the meening of Christmas. Visited by three 'ghosts' he soon realises the error of his ways. I won't however reveal if he does so or not!br /I watch this every Christmas and it always impresses me. It is a modern take (for the time) of the original but its done well and is well worth owning. Buy it now!
Cathartic christmas cracker November 19, 2006 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bill Murray is perfect as arrogant, cynical and downright obnoxious TV executive Frank Cross, in the retelling of this classic Dickens cathartic tale. The film brings moments of darkly satirical comedic fun together with the classic heartwarming story we all know and love. br /br /The script is far from perfect and not as sharp as you'd expect of a Bill Murray comedy but Richard Donner (director of Superman, Lethal Weapon, The Goonies) fits the action together to create a film perfect for chirstmas day viewing (note to parents: contains some strong language!!).
