Amazon.co.uk Review It's Christmas Eve, and Arnold needs to find a Turbo Man action figure, the craze of the season. Only they're sold out, of course. So the race is on, and the Austrian Oak must do fierce battle with other shoppers and merchants alike, all for the prize toy with which to purchase his son's affections. All of which is unwittingly very sad, on the content level. But the film supposes itself to be amiable enough, on its own shabby terms, even when it climbs out of the screen and starts gnawing at your furniture. If the humour were to get broader it would make HDTV obsolete. The tone can only be termed good-naturedly mean-spirited. Goofy carnival music runs continuously in the background so we never forget that what we're seeing is, er, um, funny. All the action is composed of comic violence, like an unhip Warner Bros. cartoon. Do the filmmakers actually consider this cynical foray to be indicative of the Christmas spirit? Apparently so, because the resolution has Arnold winning quite inadvertently, and offers no clear alternative to the competitive commercialism that drives the film's attempts at humour. In a key scene that's meant to be touching, Arnold and his chief rival Sinbad sit down for a heart-to-heart in which we learn that receiving much-wanted Christmas presents in our formative years is responsible for our success in adulthood. You get that Turbo Man, you'll be a billionaire; don't get it, you'll be a loser. Such is the formidable challenge of parenthood, to cater to the child's whims while it can still make a difference. This is what's wrong with America. --IJim Gay, Amazon.com/I

Jingle All The Way is a film about Howard, a workaholic mattress manufacturer, who keeps letting his son down, so he unintentially waits till the last minute to get his son the most popular toy of the season, Turbo Man. Determined to keep his promise to get a Turbo Man doll for his son's Christmas present, Howard must face many vicious last minute shoppers, like himself, in the quest to find a Turbo Man. However, nothing prepared him for the demented Postal worker that he must fight at every turn when he hears of a possible Turbo Man in existence. In the meantime, his son is very dissapointed because he thinks his dad is going to miss the Christmas Parade. After facing many obsticles in the course of the day, Howard finally obtains the Turbo man, however, the way he achieves it is a surprise to everyone, even to himself.
A timeless Classic November 23, 2005 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
First and foremost, this is a light-hearted CHRISTMAS film. If you want recomendations or reviews on this film, the best place to be is with normal, family people who actually have tolerance towards a charming Christmas film such as Jingle all the Way. The critics have slammed this film as they do with anything these days that doesnt have a cryptic side or a compelling storyline to it so just dont bother reading their reviews in this case.pI saw this film with my dad when i was younger and nearly ten years on (god has it been that long?) when im 16 i still love it despite being quite the movie buff myself :)brI watch it every christmas as its always on the Televison because it gets top ratings (some people actually like this film then i guess)and it can really get you into the christmas spirit.pIf you're kid hasnt seen this yet then its definately worth picking up as theyll love it more and more each time they see it. pIts also got a few jokes for the parents, stuff which i didnt understand back then but what i find really funny now which is quite nostalgic for me.pFive Stars
