Amazon.co.uk Review It must have seemed like fun at the time: a group of mates got together to play gangsters, ran around London's streets waving guns, dishing out beatings and shouting profanities at the top of their mockney lungs. It's the kind of game that any group of lads with a camcorder and a six-pack might indulge in on a Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, these particular mates happen to be famous, so the result--ILove, Honour and Obey/I--actually saw the dark of cinemas.pRay Winstone is Ray, head honcho of a North London crime outfit; Sean Pertwee is Sean, leader of the South London pack. Their organisations co-exist with a minimum of fuss, based on respect for each other's turf. Then Ray's nephew, Jude (Jude Law), introduces his mate, Jonny (Jonny Lee Miller), into the firm and the equilibrium goes up in gun smoke. Jonny's a hothead who disrespects Ray's rules and instigates a private feud with Matthew (Rhys Ifans), his opposite number in Sean's gang, and soon there are gun battles raging through the capital.pPerhaps directors Dominic Anciano and Ray Burdis regard their work as avant-garde, a deconstruction of the movie-making myth or a dissection of genre--or maybe they are just having a laugh at our expense. Either way the result is tortuous, egotistical film making. To be fair, ILove, Honour and Obey/I is at least a step up from their last effort, IFinal Cut/I, in which much the same cast again paraded under their own names and made utter fools of themselves, but that's like saying the Zeebrugge ferry disaster wasn't as bad as the Titanic. Still, at least it's not all boys playing with their penis extensions: there's also Sadie Frost and Denise Van Outen. --IJamie Graham/I

Unmissable? Unwatchable, more like it October 17, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
After watching the DVD last night, and finding it appallingly bad to say the least, today I went through the comments posted over the years and I was relieved to find some one-star ones among the five-star ratings.br /This doesn't even deserve a one star. Zero stars, more like it, as somebody else wisely pointed out.br /I found it really hard to sit through the whole movie. It is just SOOO BAD it's untrue, when compared to Guy Ritchie's movies. Those are funny gangster films, and with a plot. Not this crap.br /DO NOT, repeat DO NOT, waste your money on this.
Liked It! June 26, 2008 I could give this film five stars just for having Jude Law in it but I won't, I'm giving it five stars because it's very good. Ok I can see why some won't like it, if you didn't get 'Final Cut', you certainly won't get this as it's in a similar vein, except more polished. But if you like this sort of humour than it's a must. It's British humour from start to finish which is a refreshing change with so much americanism around. It starts with Miller fed up with the 'rut' he's in and imagines that his life would be better if he has Law's gangster lifestyle. So Law introuduces him to the 'boss' - Winstone and he's soon living his dream. Except things go wrong when he breaks a gangsters code of conduct, (that's a laugh in itself), with the South London mob. Soon his 'own' turns against him with fatal consequences.br /The film is dispersed with mobster mentality. My best bit is with the forged credit cards and Dominic beats up the store owner as the others run for it and he says 'get some kicks in Ray!' Then Jonny Lee Miller has a go when he went back. Hillarious! The ending is also good. As usual with this cast I found the acting from Law, Miller and Winstone to be first class, followed closely with Frost.
looks like they enjoyed it June 20, 2008 A more comic twist on the english gangster tale - some classic moments, some contrived but mostly a entertaining tale where the actors look like they are having a ball
A nice change in these sort of films... October 1, 2007 Now from looking on the cover of the box I thought that it would be just a typical gangster movie but seeing as I liked 'The Bussiness' I decided to get this anyway. I was glad I did because it's not really your typical gangster film but more of a black comedy with gangsters in it.br /Plus there's the added bonus of Sadie Frost and Denise Van Outen beeing in this as well.br /br /What did surprise me is that most of the actors are from the 'Operation Good Guys' TV Series of the ninties and that most of the characters bear the same names as the actors playing them, adding a sort of sense of realism. The plot however sadly loses your interest, well it did with me, after about the first half hour, but fortunately there are lots of slight comical moments to laugh at.br /br /Liked 'The Business', get this or at least rent it.
Comedy Gangster film with a hard edge August 17, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a low budget British Gangster comedy. It is very funny in places but with the odd violent scene to remind you of the genre. I believe it was made in just 12 days, and contains a decent cast of recognizable British faces. The cast appear as if they really enjoyed making it, and I really enjoyed watching it.
