Raised a couple of weak half-smiles December 29, 2008 Well, those who said it was, "Hilarious", "A sparkling comedy" and "Packed with laughs" should be prosecuted under the Trades Description Act. It is a very weak film, only saved by a credible performance from a very young-looking Martin Clunes. It rather reminded me of John Cleese's "Clockwise", (which was also quite a disappointment), but didn't even rise to that level. br /It had a couple of semi-amusing moments, (the Mother-in-Law from hell; the cop running into a lamppost) but to be honest, this is one "as new" "only watched once" DVD which we'll be giving to the charity shop. Failing that, the disk could be used to scare off birds, in the garden. Either way, it will never see the inside of our PC again. Buyer beware.
Worst film I have ever seen... December 29, 2008 I saw this when it first came out and was reminded of it when someone asked me what the worst film I've ever seen was! This was so bad, I felt assaulted. It was over-the-top, unstructured and unfunny. Not surprising when you read about its production; about three different directors, including Martin Clunes on his one and only attempt. br /br /
Stag night from hell ! January 4, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Heaven help anyone getting married whose mates take an interest in this potty film ! It certainly should have a do not try this at home tag . What happens to Martin Clunes is pretty cruel - but the cast rescue it from being just Men Behaving Badly The Movie as does the scripting . One does wonder why the Carry On's could not have thought up this idea in the late 1970's . It would have made a great adult movie style challenge to the Confessions Films . A typically British film which like Four Weddings a Funeral , Love Actually , Calander Girls The Full Monty prove that there is still a market for such home grown movies . Nice to see another British success story at the box office - those finance people who told Peter Rogers that Carry On Again Nurse would not succeed as it was ' too British ' really lacked judgement .....
Excellent, watched it about 6 times now! September 21, 2003 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
