Amazon.co.uk Review Julia Ormond faced one of the great challenges of her career when she tried to re-create Audrey Hepburn's title role in the 1995 remake of 1954's ISabrina/I. Happily, Ormond performed admirably, and while she may not have the same gamine charm of Hepburn, she makes the role her own. In fact, her transformation from mousy girl to sophisticated young woman is actually more dramatic in this updated version. The basic plot is the same--chauffeur's daughter falls in love with the son of the rich household, only to be wooed away by the older brother for business purposes--but it has been entertainingly modernised: The head of the Larrabee household is the strong matriarch (Nancy Marchand); Sabrina goes to Paris to work with a photographer instead of going to cooking school (although that means the wonderful "new egg" scene of the original had to be ditched); David's (Greg Kinnear) character has been toned down and made more sympathetic; and Humphrey Bogart's revolutionary plastic has become the flattest TV screen ever made. Lauren Holly does a fine job playing Elizabeth Tyson, David's fiancee. If you watch this for its own worth--instead of comparing it to the original--this will prove to be a terrific light-hearted romantic comedy. --IJenny Brown/I

One of the worst films I have ever seen May 5, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
After renting this DVD following the good reviews on here, I just wanted to stop anyone else wasting an evening watching this utter tosh, as I did.br /br /I watched to the bitter end in the vain hope it would eventually get better, and it doesn't. Wooden acting, hammy lines, a desperately over-aged cast that makes the main premise of the plot laughable and a cast of entirely dislikeable, shallow characters, means this is one film I would not recommend anyone to see.br /br /Maybe the original, with better cast actors and made in a different era, was quite good. I don't know, I haven't seen it. But for even the most die-hard Harrison Ford fan (and believe me, I like him a lot usually), this is one to miss. How he got through the film without cracking up at the abysmal dialogue, I have no idea....
a good romance film October 9, 2007 I never saw the original film so cannot compare to it. But on it's own this is a excellent classic romance film. Linus (Harrison ford) is the bad guy in the love triangle between him, David who is Linus brother and Sabrina. It's the chemistry between Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond what makes this film brilliant.br /br /My favourite scene has to be in the boardroom where they wind up Linus to prove that he really loves Sabrina and that he should fly to Paris to be with her.
Classic remake of an all time classic July 28, 2007 A fairy tale with imagination and originality. br /br /It was always going to be hard to beat the original Hepburn and Bogart, but it compliments and modernises it nicely: Witty dialogue, charming and credible behaviour without clumsy stereotyping, lovely supporting cast and of course top class leads (just a hint of ham, not out of place in the fairy tale genre). br /br /Now: Must rush off and see it again!
Classic romance August 17, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Any movie with Harrison Ford in it is sure to be a hit, and this is no exception. Ford plays a seemingly callous businessman who as the story develops, grows more and more endearing. Together with Julia Ormond who plays her role elegantly and sweetly, they bring an element of classic romance to this beautifully directed modern-day fairytale.
Just as good as the orginal December 5, 2002 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
When I heard that they were remaking the orginal Sabrina Fair I thought they were waisting their time. Why bother when no one could be as beautiful as Audrey Hepburn? When I saw it in the cinema I thought it was good but the orginal was better. Later on when I saw the movie again I reconsidered. The chemistry between Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond is fantastic, you can feel it coming through the screen. A fantastic film for when you are in a romantic mood
