The monsters in IMonsters, Inc./I are just so incredibly cute--and they know it. Whereas Woody, Buzz and pals in the IToy Story/I saga were filled with self-doubt about just how much the children in their lives would continue to love them, here our heroic monsters and their impossibly lovable human ward Boo have no such worries, at least when it comes to the cinema audience. And that's why IMonsters, Inc./I, for all its wondrous computer-animated artistry, its smart humour and its family-friendly appeal, doesn't quite capture the naive charm of its predecessors. pNevertheless, John Goodman and Billy Crystal, as scare-champions Sulley and Mike, are a great double-act whose comedy never goes over kids' heads but still reaches up to make their parents laugh. The film's central conceit--that monsters in the bedroom closet are just doing a night's work in order to generate power from screams for the city of Monstropolis--is funny and cleverly worked out; and kids will of course love the fact that the monsters are mortally afraid of the very children they are trying to frighten. pThe animation is extraordinarily detailed (Sulley's fur is a marvel in itself) and the set-piece action sequences top anything that has gone before for sheer audaciousness. But overall Pixar play things very safe, from the hissable villain to the end credit "outtakes". A bolder film might have taken inspiration from IThe Nightmare Before Christmas/I; instead, a little of that Disney disease of knowing cuteness seems to have crept into the formula. --IMark Walker/I

 6 YEARS OLD BUT STILL CLASS!!! December 23, 2008
I watched this when it first came out many years ago and enjoyed it a great deal and I haven't watched it for years. I sat down with my two little ones and watched this again I had forgotten how good this is. A totally brillant story as for the cast all funny and of coarse top draw script writing it is very very funny. This has to be one of the best childrens film released closely followed by Shrek and Toy Story. If you haven't seen this you really are missing out on a treat here go and buy it and great nights viewing.

Be aware, this is the 4:3, not the Widescreen version! br /br /Easy to buy it by mistake as 99.9% of DVDs are widescreen!

This has got to be one of the best Disney movies by far. This is a great family movie for young old. My kids never tire of the adventures of Mike Sully!!

hi !br /well to start of my daught had watched monster inc. br /and begged me to get it and because it had only justbr /came out it was 10+ and couldnt beleive it when its br /only now 7 in shops and only 4.50 on here !!!! itsbr /a great buy and really funny ! espeicially for a family br /night !
