Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
IFreddy Got Fingered/I, a quite astonishingly tasteless comedy from director-writer-star Tom Green, is especially for those audiences who feel that there's something stuffily restrained and fuddy-duddyish about the Farrelly Brothers and ISouth Park/I and that Chris Morris treats controversial subjects with a tactfulness that borders on the overly fastidious. pA gawky, goateed 28-year-old who still lives at home, Gordo (Green) wants to be an animator but mostly goofs around in a strangely hysterical manner that goes beyond the expected Jim Carrey style cut-up to become disturbingly like complete dementia. Gordo's main clash is with his tyrannical but also semi-insane father (Rip Torn), but his life also includes a wheelchair-bound girlfriend (Marisa Coughlan) who likes having her paralysed legs caned and a smug younger brother (the Freddy of the title) who lands up in a home for sexually abused kids (they all sit around watching IThe Texas Chainsaw Massacre/I on video) when Gordo casually accuses Dad of child abuse during a family counselling session. p Typical gags include: Green dressed up in a fresh deerskin being hit by a truck; Green masturbating an elephant to spray Torn with a firehose gusher. Guest appearances: the star?s spouse Drew Barrymore (who featured Green in ICharlie's Angels/I), baseball star Shaquille O'Neal, Anthony Michael Hall, Julie Hagerty from IAirplane!/I. It's more horrible than funny, though there is something almost refreshing about its absolute ruthlessness, which is only abandoned in an out-of-place father-son bonding scene near the end. The film also has an interesting 1970s soundtrack, mostly of punk standards that fit the anything-to-irritate-you attitude. --IKim Newman/I

3 out of 5 stars Near masterpiece of modern shock comedy, but trips up before the finish line...   September 20, 2008
This movie has been out a while now and has failed to interest me until now, probably because of Tom Green.br /br /While not his biggest fan out there, probably far from it, i thought id give it a go and see what all the fuss was about. br /br /Can i say that im glad i watched it? Yes i can, but not bceause its a "Saving Private Ryan" of comedy, but because i can now say i dont need to see it again in any rush.br /br /Ok its not bad, it has some amazingly funny moments in it, but it frustrates me that the film is purely built around funny gags. The story takes a back seat and waits for the gag to finish before moving on.br /br /But there are those who will argue that the film reflects Gords mind, a disjointed muddle of amazing comedy and insanity. If you think that way the film can then be considered a masterpiece as it does just that, a mass of comedy moments and unexplainable situations is thrust in your face.br /br /The debate will go on for a while, especially with the Tom Green fans, all i can say is it has its definate moments you wont forget and some you will want to get out of your mind fast....br /

1 out of 5 stars Hand on heart, the worst thing I have ever seen.   July 16, 2008
I can honestly say that I feel this film should be destroyed and sent to somewhere far, far away from all human life.br /br /I have never seen anything so disgusting, degrading, and insulting in my whole life. I love comedy films - I'm a big fan of Frasier, Scrubs, Family Guy, Black Books, Spaced etc etc... but this is not comedy. It's nowhere near funny. I watched this when I was drunk, and not one laugh escaped my lips. Like many other reviewers, I don't normally give negative reviews (I managed to sit through 'The Village', after all) but I just had to ward people away from ever attempting to view this film. It's a good 87 minutes of your life that you will never, ever get back.br /br /Anyone who thinks this is humorous is a moron. Please, I beg all of you, DO NOT BUY THIS FILM.

5 out of 5 stars All hail The Backwards Man!!   February 22, 2008
If you are looking to improve your skills at Cheese Sandwich Making I would not recommend this film. If you want to learn how to wack-off a horse, deliver a baby by whipping it around the room by it's umbilical cord or simply to throw Drew Barrymore into a pile of boxes, then this is definetely the film for you! Tome Green is a comic genious!!!

5 out of 5 stars Daddy would you like some sausages...   September 7, 2007

One of the first great cinematic masterpieces of the 21st century, Freddy Got Fingered takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions following "gordo" on his life journey. You will laugh, you will cry, but most of all you will feel like Tom Green has reached inside your thorax and actually touched your heart. I for one am glad that I let this movie in to my life...the scene where he pulls off an elephant is so clever and powerful on so many levels - it surely must be the best elephant-pulling-off-scene ever to grace the silver screen.

Some people wont like this film. They're the kind of people who think the series `Rome' was well acted. I rest my case.
