More than decent film!!!! December 26, 2008 What would you do if you and your partner, who you loved dearly were in some financial difficulty and in order to alleviate your difficult circumstances a stranger offered you one million for one night with you? What would you and your partner do? Would you immediately dismiss the proposal, regarding it as preposterous? Would you accept basing your argument on it being only a one-night stand and therefore meaningless? Would you do it for the much-needed money? Or would you refuse saying that money cannot buy love and that such an act would reduce you to the likes of a prostitute?br /br /Confused? Well that is exactly the complex story this film weaves excellently. With a thought-provoking script that manages to challenge our every day perceptions of love and money and the depths we'd go to achieve them, along with some seriously moving moments guaranteed to shed a few tears from the female members of the audience and even managing to throw in a few comic moments this film is something special. br /br /Add that to some superb acting from the small but talented cast and you're in for a treat. One can easily empathise with all three characters from the lonely billionaire (Robert Redfort), who believes he can buy love, to the loved-up couple (Woody Harrelson and Demi Moore) who believe that they are untouchable and that their actions won't effect their "perfect" relatonship.br /br /Beautiful cinematography, memorable music and careful editing make this a very crafty movie.br /br /I'd highly recommend this movie for anyone looking for a mature, deep movie (something hard to find now-a-days)
superb April 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i havent cried so much since 'bridges of madison county', it really got to me this film, it was brilliantly acted and i could see the scenario, not so much the one night thing, but the aftermath being experienced in modern day society. How the characters changed and started to interact less with each other really upset me, You have to watch this film!!
great idea, but a few flaws March 12, 2008 Woody Harrelson (White men can't jump) stars as David. He and his wife Diana travel to Las Vegas to win some money to cover their debts. Billionaire John Gage offers the couple one million dollars if he can spend the night with Diana. br /br /Based on Jack Engelhard's novel, Indecent Proposal covers the wants and needs of relationships and what couples need to do to survive. This idea of buying people, although quite crude, is well established and portrayed in this romantic drama by director Adrian Lyne.br /br /Though Robert Redford's (The Sting) character and acting isn't brilliant he does what he needs to do to dive right into the couple and exploit their problems. Harrelson and Moore (Disclosure) are both brilliant in their roles as the confused but loved up couple.br /br /The whole idea of buying people for sex is horrible in my opinion but the film specifically portrays the crisis that the couple are in and the viewers will comprehend the decision which is eventually made.br /br /Its quite a hard going film considering the financial obligations and the emotions involved. There are a few cliched love ideologies thrown in to portray the closeness of the couple.br /br /David's whole idea on archaeology was very intriguing and was a cool little sub story to look upon.br /br /Its tense and dramatic at various points though fairly predictable and corny at others. Harrelson and Moore succeed along with the whole idea of the film. Redford's character is annoying for the whole film.br /br /It's a pretty normal romantic film, with acceptable acting and a good enough plot to keep you entertained till the end.br /br /worth watching once or twicebr /
Love cannot be bought by money in the end? September 24, 2005 2 out of 17 found this review helpful
Real love can be bought by money or wealth? And the money or wealth can make us happy? Most of us would face this financial matters at some point, and if you and your partner got offered something like this? You would sell your soul to it or you would stick to this love? It should be an ultimate decision to make. All you need is love? In the end, they might find something really important to you...? It tells what love should be... Joy, Anger, Sorrow and Laugh... We have to be able to share everything with our partner... Not just money or nice cloths... We will see if they can be happy... by the end of the story...
A Brilliantly well rounded film June 27, 2001 6 out of 13 found this review helpful
I had my doubts about this one, as it is a love film, and I tend to steer away from em (being a bloke, ha ha). But it mixes comedy in with a good cast as well as a good script. Demi Moore is as sexy as ever and the film does touch you (yes I'll admit). I'd recommend this film to anybody.
