Oh the Sneering Classes May 10, 2004 10 out of 14 found this review helpful
So what's your problem Guys? This is not a true story; it's a fantasy and for that it is the biz. My kids love it, I love it and my wife... well she can't see what all the fuss is about but then we will leave her to watch Casualty! Seriously though, there is so much rubbish talked about these films. Their special effects are magnificent and the story line is the classic good verses evil and to be quite honest, what is the matter with Series One; it does what it says on the box. They should make prejudices against good film making an offence! Now if you want to see bad viewing, you should see some of the Brazillian soaps on Portuguese TV! Forget the critics, buy them all and enjoy.
WAIT December 26, 2003 16 out of 26 found this review helpful
A lot of people say these two movies aren't up to scratch compared to the originals. I think they are great, but that is because I only started following Star Wars a year ago and Im used to this type of extravagant movie.pThe main point that should be considered here is this:pDo you want Episodes I II in a boxset nowporpDo you want Episodes I, II, III, IV, V VI in about two years time. pI'd say getting the complete boxset is a better idea otherwise your collection is going to be ruined and not neat and perfect.
Ep 1 Total Naff Ep 2 Must try harder November 9, 2003 4 out of 22 found this review helpful
What can I say? Episode one is Awfull, really Truely Awfull. I first saw this film at the cinima. Now i have seen some stinkers in my time, but i have always wanted to sit to the end.br Episode One is the ONLY film i have really WANTED to leave half way though, sheer boardom!pEpisode II was alot better, but still WAY below par compaired to the original. The fact that Anakin was a young tear away helped, rather than a little kid who says things like "Yippy" (Shudder)pOh the special effects are great, but i have never CARED about any of the characters in Episods I and II, in 3, 4 and 5 you did.pSo why did i get the DVD's??? well as a star wars fan i have got the get the whole set and i watched them again just to see if I could be less jaded the second time around, but no.pAhh well at least they will be able mark the place were up episodes 3, 4 and 5 should be on my shelf when i use them.pI dare say EP 1 will do the rounds on the box this christmas. That will be my call to go help the missus clean the dishes!
What's the point? August 19, 2003 21 out of 38 found this review helpful
So you're gonna buy a 2 film box set, out of a series of 6 films? A complete rip-off! Where's Ep III gonna fit sandwiched in between this and the eventual original trilogy box set? Buy them separatley or wait for EP's III, IV, V VI on DVD before buying any Star Wars box sets.
value for money for two Star Wars movies March 26, 2003 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Value for money buying both movies, but Episode 2 (attack of the clones) is much better than Episode 1 (the phantom menace) because there is more of a storyline and we see less of annoying Jar Jar Binks. The real challenge will be to see how George Lucas will tie up all of the loose ends from 2(attack of the clones) and 4 (a new hope)to put into 3. I only wish that they will put the original trilogy onto DVD soon, as the trilogy was a classic and desrves the advantage of DVD to bring it truly to life.
