Amazon.co.uk Review Jackie Chan looks spiffy in IThe Tuxedo/I, but the movie needs a tailor. No Jackie Chan movie could be a total misfire, however, and he's charmingly self-effacing here as a hapless chauffeur who inadvertently replaces his injured super-agent boss (Jason Issacs) and foils a madman (Ritchie Coster) who plans to infect the world's water supply and reap a fortune selling pure bottled water. Jackie's a bumbling superhero after donning his boss's high-tech, Inspector Gadget-like tuxedo (it even has a "Mambo" setting), and curvaceous co-agent Jennifer Love Hewitt coaches him in crime fighting while closing in on the bad guys. It's all as routinely ridiculous as it sounds--Jackie's faux James Brown act is the only real highlight--and as critic Roger Ebert observed, the climax hinges on an insect queen that doesn't exist in nature! So, while Jackie and Jennifer provide a few moments of stellar stunts and random amusement, you can blame this mess on screenwriters who didn't do their homework. --IJeff Shannon/I

poor dialogue and boring story but some nice action and the futuristic tuxedo was fun to see May 15, 2008 There were one or two humorous moments in this movie and some good action sequences but on the whole the dialogue was poor and the story plain boring. The tuxedo that made its wearer almost superhuman was a good idea.br /This production had the feel of a James Bond movie without Bond being there. As with Bond productions you have to supsend your disbelief to enjoy what you are seeing but when you see how Jackie Chan behaves so often like spiderman in The Tuxedo you will disbelieve the suspension.I don't usually watch Jackie Chan films but it isn't hard to imagine that with a better script he must be good in them.I bought the film largely because someone had mentioned that Jennifer Love Hewitt looked "smoking hot" in it.She does indeed. So if you want to spend 90 minutes looking at a beautiful woman then this is definitely the film for you.
This movie is bad all the way round January 3, 2008 The Tuxedo looks it could of been a good movie Jackie Chan plays a guy called Jimmy a Taxi Driver who cannot fight. Later he gets a Tuxedo which gives him powers to be able to fight. This movie is bad all around from bad acting to a really bad story this is one of the most boring movie i have ever seen.br /br /If you want to see Jackie Chan in classic movies then check out Police Story, The new Police Story, Rumble in the Bronx, Project A. Leave this movie and don't check it out because i know that the real Jackie Chan fans will hate it.
A Great Jackie Chan Flick! November 26, 2007 OK, a lot of people have given this film stick, and I think it's because Jackie Chan fans are used to seeing this sort of slapstick comedy in old kung fu films with a mostly male cast, and to see a film where his co-star is a modern American woman trying to intergrate herself into the Jackie Chan style of slapstick kung fu comes across as a bit silly at times. Pesonally, I thoroughly enjoyed 'Tuxedo' and would recommend it to everyone. It's a lot of fun and there's some good action sequences too, give it a go and you might enjoy it as much as I did.
Great Film February 4, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I seriously don't see why people do not like this film? I agree, it's not as good as Rumble In Bronx, but it is definatly not worse than other Jackie's films. I think it's a great James Bond spoof, especially because Jackie is in it. Jeniffer Love Hewitt also looks smoking hot.
What a let down! March 28, 2005 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a big Jackie Chan fan, but this movie was very disappointing. Basically, Tuxedo is a James Bond spoof, with humble, immigrant taxi driver turned chauffeur Chan having to step up when his secret agent boss is injured. Chan soon discovers that the latter's tuxedo imbues him with all sorts of super powers - from fighting to dancing. Jennifer Love-Hewitt as a laboratory-based scientist turned novice field agent is Jackie's sidekick, unaware of his true identity.brbrThe usual martial arts escapades are there, but we've seen it all before and there is nothing truly laugh-out-loud funny. Even the outtakes at the end are pretty dull. The story plot is poor, contrived and hard to follow. Only the many extended and deleted scenes included on the DVD helped me to make sense of it afterwards. Actually the makers are to be applauded for the large amount of extras on this one-disc DVD. It rates very highly on that score. But sadly, this doesn't make up for what is a pretty dire movie itself.
