Under Presseure July 6, 2004 Supriceingly good! This is a thriller/drama film that plays alot like "Faling Down whit Michael Douglas. This one however is much more violent, so if you dont like to much violence, stay away. I saw it for the second time on dvd not vhs, and it is still a good piece. It disturbs me that people think that Sheen only did crap after The Chase and Terminal Vleocity. Ok he didnt do classics, but all in all he was great in the late 80:s and the earliy 90:s, and good in the mid 90:s. I recommend this movie.
Good if you're a Charlie Sheen fan January 4, 2004 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this along with another Charlie movie: Good Advice. Of the two, Good Advice is the better (in fact, Good Advice is Excellent). Don't get me wrong, 'Under Pressure' isn't bad, it's just not great. Unfortunately, I was waiting for 'Chuck's' character to *become* crazed, but the movie starts with his being already crazy. It makes the viewer feel as though you've come into the room in the middle of the movie instead of at the beginning, which is a little disorienting.pThat's the bad . . . the good is that the acting is excellent, the writing is intelligent (apart from one obvious oversight--the Repair-Man's truck, should you watch the movie), and the pacing is quite good.pOverall, a 'good' movie, but it could have been far better if Charlie Sheen's character had been developed a bit and the movie had been elongated by 15 minutes to give us a bit of an introduction whereby we could 'see' Charlie's character 'lose it'.
What a B-movie classic! September 30, 2003 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I saw this film on channel 5 like a year ago, and watched it because i wasw bored and there was nothing else on tv. I was freaked out, but also enthralled, and charlie sheens absolutely insane main character is one of the most eerily powerful 'bad guys' that i have seen in a film in quite some time. I am amazed that this didn't get a major cinema release, but then i guess Charlie Sheen's career was sliding downhill fast when this movie was made. This was the first Charlie Sheen film that i ever saw, and now i am a huge fan of his, so when i just discovered this dvd i ordered it straight away. Sheen plays a firefighter who blames his next door neighbour for his own marital breakdown, and becomes like an evil presense in his neighbours lives, as they severely piss him off, and he is already nuts, he ends up playing russian roulette with them in their own living room. When the neighbours call the cops (this is earlier in the film.) Sheen turns the police against the neighbours (i think he says that the husband batters his wife), and they belive nothing that they say against Sheens character. The best scene is when he taunts the chinese delivery man into attacking him, then kills him and the cops later see his corpse in a cupboard. A fabulous film that many more people should see and enjoy. brCHARLIE SHEEN IS A GEM

Charlie Sheen does a lot of B movies but dont think this is one of them because you have never heard of it before. Charlie or 'Charles' according to the opening credits plays the villain of the film which already makes it worthwile watching.brSheen plays a reclusive fireman who persecutes his neighbours family because he blames the wife for his own marital breakdown. This sounds like a thin plot and technically it is but for the simple reason that the family is annoyingly idealic (you may be able to relate to some of Sheens complaints; noisy kids, carparking disagreements etc), that it is with glee that you watch Sheen turn the persecution in to pure terrorising and yet still you feel no sympathy for the family.brAs a viewer some people may find this uncomfortable, but I believe this is what the director was aiming for, asking us where our sympathy and our priorities lie.brDo you root for the annoyingly perfect law abiding decent citizens or the crazy law breaking loner who has nothing going for him in life?brSounds like an easy question but this film makes it difficult to answer.brThe film is not excessively violent, or sets out to shock with the usual tactics but still manages to be unsettling and therefore entertaining.br I think in Charlie Sheen they have got the right man for the lead role as they did when they got Michael Caine to play Jack Carter in 'Get Carter'. Like that film this film comes over as a real 'tour de force' in the sense that we start cheering for the bad guy.brIts a shame this went straight to a video/satellite release but hopefully it will one day earn the critical acclaim it so rightfully deserves. I dont give it 5 stars because I thought there was a lack of a supporting cast but it could be argued that that is what makes Sheens character all the more powerful.brMaybe you should make up your own minds?
