Brilliant Film! August 19, 2008 I've had this film for ages and have only just got around to watching it. I wish I had watched it sooner. Loved the storyline. It makes you laugh, makes you go 'awwrr', makes you cry and really does make you think about things which are important to you. Well worth watching, whatever your age!
A poor rendition of the book July 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a stand alone film 'Fluke' is a passable disney style childrens' doggy film. However, as a representation of the James Herbert book it falls way too short from the original story. My advise, take the book out of the library and read it. Save the DVD for when the grandkids visit and it's raining.
Not Quite Pedigree March 14, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
For any dog lover, this film may be enjoyable - it basically 'stars' a cast of gorgeously adorable pups (one thinks mongrels never looked so good!)but this is a bit too much of a tv movie in it's almost cheesy nature.br /br /Admittedly, the whole idea of dogs that talk to each other and are re-incarnations of humans is far fetched in itself - but having dogs jump through pane glass windows and perform super-canine tricks is just too much to believe I'm afraid. I should imagine anyone over the age of 7 would do what I did : raise their eyes to the sky and not take the rest of the movie seriously.br /br /The dog has come back in search of the reason behind his death - he believes that his best friend murdered him and is out to cheat / deceive his widow and son and wants to stop this dastardly man in his tracks. The ending does have a twist that - though not in keeping with the cosy theme of the film - has enough to satisfy you of it's conclusion.br /br /A paw effort if not a pup yourself.

I watched this film years ago but it is one I never forgot and because of that I have bought both the book and the film. It's a real tear jerker..... and in some ways even better than the book. (which doesn't happen to often..)
Love it so much it makes you cry May 25, 2005 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I saw this film 2 years ago, nothing has made me cry so much since homeward bound. This is a beautiful story as we watch a dog grow from puppy to adult (Fluke) all the time having disturbing dreams from his human past life which finally sends him looking for his human family. This film really knows how to hit your tear jerkers. An excellent film.
