A connection you'll be glad you missed. April 14, 2008

Being a fan of the American writer TRUMAN CAPOTE I was intriged to see this film which he wrote the dialogue for. What a disappointment... this film is entirely shot on location in Rome's Terminal Station and it would have been best to have left it there... in the left luggage dept uncollected!, this film has a plot that goes absolutely nowhere, perhaps in the 1950's a married woman having an affair was shocking but this film has no relevence for today. It tries (in vain) to create suspense from nothing, and apart from the scene with Jennifer Jones and the pregnant third class passenger and her children all else is instantly forgettable, the usually dependable MONTGOMERY CLIFT seems to be in a daze and out of it most of the time. Interesting that the copy I have lasts only 63 minutes but elsewhere on Amazon it supposedly lasts 72 and even up to 82 minutes?

I saw this movie in Italy as a kid and I have watched it now as an adult after many years:brif you are incurably romantic, put your feet up and let the magic of this film take you over..you will soon be transported in the kingdom of romance and stare the screen until the last frame has vanished.
