fox plays the wolf May 10, 2003 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you take micheal jacksons "Thriller", and cross it with Porkys revenge you get teen wolf. Taking no time at all to show fox turning into a werewolf, and breezing past an explanation as to why, this films plot is far from genious. what is great about the film is the sheer simplistic fun of it all. Straight in to the action fox plays an unpopular teenager who plays for the worst school basketball team in his county (badly), is in love with a buetiful blonde who wont look at him twice who just happens to be the girlfriend of his arch nemesis (the star player of the best basketball team in the tournement) and who's best friend is always chasing the party with a beer keg in the back of his car. essentially fox finds out that he is the latest in a long line of friendly werewolves, turning when angry, nervous, or horny. Of course fox turns into a wolf, becomes a star basketball player, wins instant popularity, and beds his rivals blonde. Amongst the porkies style antics, and basketball playing, fox realises there is a moral to the story.........it is better to be content with yourself, and to achieve greatness than to be someone else. A great display of the feel good factor, combined with the cheesy moral to the story that the 80's did so well, and that films such as american pie, and road trip achieved such popularity with. If like me you loved this film as a kid, try watching it again, you wont be dissapointed.

Whilst recently wathcing teen wolf again on television i realised what a great piece of film history it actuall was. A pre-Back to the Future, MIchael J. Fox is perfectly cast as a young student who is trying to score with the prettiest girl at his school, however due to him being slightly plain she does not give him the time of day instead opting for the school jock. Although the film is a bit slushy the morale is thought provoking as it shows youngster that they do not need to be perfect to find love.It teaches them to be themselves and i believe in age where youngsters are expected to be perfect in everyway that this film shows a different approach. An excellent feel good movie that is worth watching what ever your age.........
