Grab your favourite munchies: Red and Meth, that dope-addled dynamic duo, are going to Harvard. And while it's not exactly demanding viewing, IHow High/I is destined to become a guilty pleasure of the cannabis crowd. The plot's a familiar one--take the basic selling points of any Cheech Chong movie (a pair of shambolic protagonists who smoke lots of weed and drive funky 70s-style cars), graft them onto a generic "raising hell on campus" teen movie scenario and shake vigorously. The result is a prosaic effort that does contain some all-too-brief moments of genuine humour. Red and Meth, aka Redman and Method Man, may look like the world's oldest freshmen, but both offer genial performances, especially Method Man, who imbues the character of Silas with a dog-eared gentleness that raises him above the film's leaden script and plastic directing. --IRebecca Levine/I

 Cheech and Chong NOT June 22, 2008
Amazon kept recommending this DVD to me coz I bought a couple of cheech chong. The only similarity was the topic; there was no comparison in the quality of the comedy. There wasn't an original idea in the whole film just weakly made pale imitations of much better films such as Nice Dreams and Animal House. On its own merits its ok and worth a watch if really you like stoner comedy, but don't expect a classic.

I really loved this film i remember the first time i saw it, im a really big Wu-Tang Clan fan so i was enticed with method man in it, very funny storyline... even better when ur stoned watchin it!!! :D

If a film is called How High and begins with the song Hits From The Bong by Cypress Hill, you really ought to know what to expect. It's a weed-related comedy, as pioneered all those years ago by Cheech Chong, but this time with rappers Method Man and Redman instead.br /br /This is one of those films that's a little more fun to describe than to watch. Check out the story: Meth and Red smoke some weed grown in soil fertilised by their dead buddy's ashes. Obviously, this process summons said dead buddy's ghost. Even more obviously, this ghost helps them cheat on a test that earns them admission to Harvard. Next stop, comical shenanigans. Allegedly.br /br /Now, this could have been a funny one, partly because of the daffy premise, but also because our heroes make for a likable pair. Trouble is, instead of going for broke, they lazily trot out a series of college cliches the likes of which have not been seen since the heyday of Animal House rip-offs in the eighties. Pranks on the Dean, the uptight antagonist who doesn't deserve his girlfriend, etc. Maybe they were going for irony or postmodern references or somesuch, but it didn't seem like it. More likely, someone just wrote How High by cut and pasting a selection of scenes from a bunch of old betamax videotapes they found lying around.br /br /I laughed, if I remember rightly, four times, and three of those came from the pimp who put baby powder on his hand before he slapped people. Maybe the point is to watch this film in a 'certain condition', but that seems like a pretty weak excuse for such ham-handedness. I mean, isn't everything funny when you're high?

Any hip hop headed, weed smokin person will love this film. One of the best films of all time. Red and meth are def an the soundtrack is awesome, infact so awesome i went an downloaded it straight after. So funny, specially when they 'dig up a smart dead guy to smoke his ass' when they run out of bud and have to pass their exams. Buy it. You wont be disapointed unless your a stuck up, anti-ganga, hip hop hater.

Brilliant. Deserves to be considered a classic. Truly a work of genius...pOne of the funniest, off the wall-best value comedies you will see. Right from the start the pace is relentless with great gags and one liners, all suprisingly well delivered by Methodman and Redman. You don't have to be a smoker to enjoy this movie, as it's great fun with brilliant characters, particularly the Chinese homeboy wannabee. I watched this film not knowing what to expect and was delighted with it. pHighly recommended. Buy it.
