Amazon.co.uk Review The winning comic finesse of Reese Witherspoon drives ILegally Blonde 2/I. It's astonishing that the sequel could possibly be daffier than the first movie, but ILegally Blonde 2/I leaves reality behind like an unflattering outfit. Unemployed lawyer Elle Woods (Witherspoon) sets off to the US capitol to ban cosmetics testing on animals, after discovering that her beloved Chihuahua's own mother is being used as a test subject. Washington DC becomes a testing ground for Elle's mettle, as she grapples with callous committees, backstabbing representatives and devious aides to get her bill considered by Congress, with some help from her sorority sisters and her hairdresser friend Paulette (Jennifer Coolidge). Witherspoon bursts with charisma and dazzles with sheer performing skill; she's the comic heir to screwball comedienne Carole Lombard--which is high praise. The film also features Bob Newhart and Sally Field. --IBret Fetzer/I

a poor follow-up but lots of bonus material and a LeeAnn Rimes video September 24, 2007 Legally Blonde 2 suffered from the quality of Legally Blonde 1 being so high. The first film had a believable storyline and introduced us to Elle and her quirky friends and mannerisms and showed us a developing and blossoming young woman we could sympathise with. The sequel just assumes we know what Elle is like already and takes it for granted the viewer will accept and understand the way she is.The jokes in Legally Blonde 2 weren't as good as in the first film either.I didn't expect this follow-up to be all that good because it was always going to be difficult to br /continue to develop Elle's character. This is a film to watch if you just want to relax and have got some time to kill.Otherwise go out to that restaurant, pub, club or whatever instead!
A daft girlie film September 4, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Reese Witherspoon is bach as blonde,fashion-concious lawyer Elle Woods. After being fired from her first job and with her wedding to boyfriend Emet imminent,Elle takes on the goverment to change legistration over animal testing. After finding out that Bruiser's mum is a test animal, Elle sets out to change the world, well at least the law. A perfect film for a girlie night in, but do not rely to heaverly on the plot.
Not Special Not Boring October 7, 2005 4 out of 9 found this review helpful
This film is watchable, its one of those films where you just know it is a disappointment from the first one. It has its good parts like most films but i couldn;t watch it again becasue it gets a bit stupid at the end and drags a little.
Lightweight froth. October 1, 2005 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
In Legally Blonde 2, Reese Witherspoon returns as the dizzy, but highly intelligent lawyer, Elle Woods. Busy planning her forthcoming wedding, Elle decides she wants her dogs' long lost mother to attend the happy event. Unfortunately the private detective, hired to find Bruiser's mother, discovers she is in an animal testing laboratory and they won't release her. Elle decides to take up the fight against animal testing and launches herself on an unsuspecting Washington senate. brLike all too many sequels, Legally Blonde 2 does not live up to its predecessor. The story is just an extension of the original move, nobody takes Elle seriously as she's blonde, dressed in pink, looks like Barbie, but she proves them all wrong etc. etc. The story line tries to push the moral issue of using animals in experiments. Unfortunately, the message is lost in all the froth that surrounds it. brThis isn't the worst film you could watch, it's certainly ok for one of those nights when you don't want to have to concentrate too much and just want some simple entertainment. Just don't expect to be rolling on the floor laughing and be prepared to suspend all thoughts of reality with the totally unbelievable storyline. There are a fair number of extras on the DVD for those who like to explore more but, like the film, they are somewhat lightweight.
CRAP!!!!!!! September 14, 2004 5 out of 12 found this review helpful
This film is not up to scratch at all. Not even one onehundredth as good as the first one, it lurches on through an implausible plot until it finally reaches a ridiculous and clicheed climax. The only good point of the story being the cast, this is possibly Reese Witherspoon's worst film to date!
