Amazon.co.uk Review
A slapstick comedy starring Chris Farley, iBeverly Hills Ninja/i is part prop-gag movie and part testament to the late comedian's physical comedic abilities. As a baby, Haru (Farley) appeared on the coastal shores of Japan. Legend has it that a foreigner would arrive and become the greatest ninja ever, known as the ""Great White Ninja."" As Harugrew, it became apparent: he was not the one. But when a beautiful stranger named Sally (Nicollette Sheridan) appears at the dojo seeking a ninja's help, Haru finds his calling. Through a series of mix-ups (generally caused by Haru himself), Haru is framed for murder and he follows Sally to Beverly Hills to set things right. Finding out Sally's boyfriend is a counterfeiter and murderer, Haru with the help of hotel bellboy Joey (Chris Rock) and unknowingly with the help of his ninja brother Gobei (Robin Shou) takes down the counterfeit ring and finds his place among the ninja clan.P Beverly Hills Ninja is full of individual comic gags that are hilarious in their purity--call it sadistic, but sometimes it's just plain funny watching a guy unwittingly walk into a lamppost while carrying on a conversation. Farley was a master at these tried-and-true gags, which reach right back into the origins of comedy. But it's not all slapstick; a scene where Haru is so taken by dancers at a local strip bar that he joins in is reminiscent of the mud-wrestling scene from iStripes/i.iBeverly Hills Ninja/i may be considered a low-brow romp but a romp it is nonetheless. 4 out of 5 stars ENTERTAINING STUFF   August 26, 2007
Beverly Hills Ninja is a funny little film, nothing overly special, but still a fun ride that I quite enjoyed. Chris Farley and Robin Shou were the main reason as they brought a lot of humor and laughs to the film, plus Farley is just so great at the physical type humor. This film gets a bad rap, but I think it's a fine little film, and sure it may be a little silly at times but that's what I liked about it, plus The scenes where Chris is practicing by himself at the Dojo are a scream!. The scenes where Chris Rock tired to grab the chickens are also a hoot, and it's just got great slapstick as well, plus I loved the whole cast as well, although the villain was kind of weak in my opinion. There are some really good fight scenes in it as well, and Robin Shou was especially good in them, plus the ending is a hoot and gave me a lot of laughs. Overall this is quite the funny film, if you put your brain in check, and I recommend it to all Comedy lovers your bound to find some enjoyment!. *** out of 5br /br /The Acting is lots of fun!. Chris Farley is very funny here, probably at his funniest, he is just awesome at physical Comedy, some of the stuff he does is just plain out crazy, he also always surprises me with his agility I just really dig his humor!. Nicollette Sheridan is pretty no doubt about that but is only OK here, in her role I never found her particularly interesting as she was just eye candy to me. Robin Shou is hilarious and just awesome here, he has great comic timing and is a wonderful martial artist I loved the guy. Nathaniel Parker is OK as the villain never that menacing and overall I found him to be pretty weak. Soon-Tek Oh is funny as the Sensei and brought class I loved him. Chris Rock is hilarious as Joey who wants to be a Ninja, I absolutely loved him!.

5 out of 5 stars Funny everytime I see it   June 4, 2006
I've seen movie three times on TV and have laughed long and hard everytime - so had to buy the DVD.br /br /Great comedy, great slapstick and great script (listen carefully - there's some cheeky one-liners in here!). Well worth 90 minutes of anyone's time!br /br /(So sad to hear that Farley died so young, in Dec 97, aged only 33)

5 out of 5 stars Chris Farley at his funniest   October 31, 2005
Chris Farley was probably the greatest physical comedian of his generation, and his unique skills are truly showcased in Beverly Hills Ninja. It's sort of a no-brainer: cast Chris Farley as "the great white Ninja" and stand back while hilarity ensues. That's basically what happens, although the story itself isn't all that bad on its own. Obviously, there are lots of stunts and comedic pratfalls in the film, but the dialogue is hilarious, as well - Beverly Hills Ninja is eminently quotable. Adding Chris Rock to the comedic mix makes a good thing even better. pAs a babe, little Haru (Farley) washed up on the shores of Japan and was taken in by a ninja master. Legends foretold of a white child who would become the greatest ninja in the world, and Sensei adopted the child as one of his own. By the time Haru grew up, though, it seemed rather obvious that he was not the prophesied Great White Ninja - he had plenty of heart and dedication, but no ninja skills whatsoever. Then a shapely American blonde (Nicollette Sheridan) comes to the dojo asking for help, and Haru readily agrees to put his ninja stealth skills to use for her. He discovers that the lady's boyfriend is a counterfeiter and murderer, and - hearing nothing else from her - he decides it is his duty to follow her to the Hills of Beverly and safeguard her life. Knowing that Haru is a clumsy goof, Sensei (Soon-Tek Oh) sends Haru's "brother" Gobei (Robin Shou) to surreptitiously watch over and assist him. Gobei is plenty busy, as Haru soon finds himself blamed for a couple of murders and basically keeps putting himself in peril. Incredibly, Haru does manage to find his client again, which puts him on a collision course with bad guys more than willing to rob and kill in order to get their counterfeit operation up and going. Haru makes some interesting detours along the way: forgetting everything he's ever learned about being one with the universe at a local strip joint, posing as an inking expert, and even serving up a most memorable meal at a Japanese restaurant. In case you're wondering, there is some martial arts action in the closing minutes, and it's quite a kick to see Farley actually take care of a little business. pBeverly Hills Ninja is a very funny movie. The world will never see the likes of Chris Farley again, and this role was seemingly made for him to play. It's like a highlight reel of all Farley's funniest stunts and hijinx, and great one-liners just pour out of the characters' mouths in abundance. If you're not into comedy for comedy's sake, you can even take heart in seeing Haru succeed at finally proving himself and earning the respect of his Sensei and "brother." The music, which does include both "Turning Japanese" and "Kung Fu Fighting," also adds a lot to the comedy. Really, if this movie doesn't make you laugh, I'm not sure there's any hope for you.

4 out of 5 stars A Chris Farley classic   April 3, 2005
Joseph Campbell would be proud of this coming of age hero story.pHaru (Chris Farley) is a ninja school dropout. He still maintains a positive attitude. He gets an opportunity to help a Sally a lady in distress (Nicollette Sheridan). His mission will eventually take him to the hills of Beverly. Sensei (Soon Tek Oh) is like a father to him. Sensei realizing he can not sway Haru from his mission sends another ninja Gobei (Robin Shou) who is Haru's spiritual brother to quietly help.pOn this mission Haru, Gobei, and Sensei learn more about themselves.
