torch song trilogy is an emotional ride from start to finish is has a great cast such as anne bancroft, matthew brodrick,to name but a few,it tells the human story of love and the never ending search for it.brits not just about drag queens and gay people it is a multi-layered story of people trying to find what makes them happy and the journey the main character arnold goes through, this is a powerful film that breaks down the barriers of homophobia and religion and color.bryou will laugh and you will cry and you will come away from seeing this movie with the feeling that everything will be ok with the world that arnold lives in and perhaps it may give some people hope......for me its made me want bunnie slippers.

5 out of 5 stars Definitely NOT a drag...   September 20, 2003

Harvey Fierstein at his finest, as the gravel-voiced drag queen who takes time out from growling torch songs in a seventies night spot, to fight with his mother, bury his father, and turn up at his adopted son's school in bunny slippers. One of the most beautiful and touching stories ever seen, which somehow makes you laugh and cry in the same breath. More than any other film, Torch Song Trilogy cleverly highlights the turmoil between a gay child and his parents. The script twists and turns between the mother and son's viewpoint, as they struggle to accept each other. Anne Bancroft gives a stunning performance, and illustrates the clash between a mother's love and centuries of in-built homophobia. Gay or straight, this is a film that every human being should see.

A moving film about the life and love struggles of a transvestite. This gripping tale of Arnold's relationship with his mother, amungst other traumers, can be recognised by almost every gay man. The frustrating battle Arnold has in order to win his Mother's affection and respect is finally, after arriving at a happy medium in his life, suceeded, but not before a devestating incident. The humour is sharp and the acting heart-felt. Ann Bancroft's interpretation of an emotional but self-sufficient gay man is sensational. A must see movie for anyone with a heart or sense of humour.

5 out of 5 stars High Camp Drama.   April 1, 2003

A must for lovers of drag, pre Aids gay life, family conflict and a glimpse of the Gay World as it really is or was. A great story line, some violence, love found, love lost, love re born. It knnocks Queer as Folk into a cocked hat. originally a stage show, it transfers to TV big time. just have the tissues ready. This movie covers so many 'gay' related issues from family, tacky drag to moddy drag songs, relationships to gay adoption. A 'Must' have for those who love the Birdcage, Tales of the City, My Beautiful Launderet ect.
