Reba McEntire plays divorced mother of three November 16, 2007 This is very popular sitcom on WB network that stars country crooner Reba McEntire as divorced mother of three. The network made a bold move to air this sitcom that stars Reba McEntire her debut on a TV show, and the gamble paid off. It is a very successful show on the network and very popular among young and old. br /br /There are 22 episodes of the first season on three discs. At the center of the show is Reba who balances her single life with three kids; the eldest being married to her high school sweetheart and her some what challenging younger daughter Kyra and her only son Jake. In one episode we learn that Reba Hart and husband Brock have broken up, Brock's mistress (in a later episode she becomes his wife) Barbra Jean, and Reba's eldest daughter Cheyenne are pregnant. The story revolves around the family of Reba and how she solves the problems of life in funny and humorous way. The emotional attachment of her ex husband Brock to Reba is strong, and this is evident in several episodes. He frequently visits her for advice about his little worries and frustrations in his life. His new wife Barbara Jean also seeks emotional support from Reba in her needs, yet at the some time annoys her whenever she can. While coping with her own divorce, Reba keeps busy helping Cheyenne and her husband Van set up their lives as newlyweds. There are several episodes in the first season which turn out be the best of the series. Reba McEntire does a wonderful job in the number one spot. br /
Shockingly Funny Sit Com September 8, 2007 Reba Hart's (Reba McEntire) life is not turning out the way she had planned. Instead of the trial separation from her dentist husband Brock (Christopher Rich) ending in him moving back home, she learns that he has impregnated his dental hygienist Barbra Jean (Melissa Peterman). As if that weren't bad enough, she also learns that her 17-year-old drill team captain daughter Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) is also pregnant, courtesy of her boyfriend and the captain of the football team, Van Montgomery (Steve Howey).br /br /Naturally, this leads to lots of upheaval. While Brock and Reba divorce so Brock can marry Barbra Jean, Cheyenne and Van get married and move in with Reba to finish their senior year of high school. And Reba needs to keep it together for her two younger kids, smart and sarcastic Kyra (Scarlett Pomers), and six-year-old Jake (Mitch Holleman).br /br /Adultery, divorce, and teen pregnancy. Have I mentioned yet that this is a comedy?br /br /As unlikely as it seems, it is. And it really is very funny. I started out not watching this show because I figured a show starring Reba couldn't be that good. But I caught one late in the first season and fell in love. Reba brings a warmth and humor to the part. And I laugh my way through every one of the 22 episodes in this season.br /br /Being a sit com, some of the serious subjects dealt with come across a little too softly. Consequences that might occur in real life are brought up, but all problems are solved in 22 minutes with laughs, jokes, and a hug or two. I will admit at times that does bug me. But it is the nature of the format.br /br /While the show calls itself a family sit com, this isn't a show I would let my kids watch by themselves. There are occasional off color jokes. Plus, the subject matter is very mature. This is something I'd watch with older kids and use as a tool to open discussion of various issues brought up on the show.br /br /My other complaint about the season is Barbra Jean. Here, they really play up her church attendance and Christianity. And yet she doesn't seem to get the fact that she's an adulterer. Fortunately, that is played down in later seasons.br /br /If you let this sit com go without watching, give it a chance. You'll find great characters and funny situations that will have you laughing before you know what hit you.
Funny, uplifting - heck, it's simply priceless July 22, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I appreciate this show very much. My big sister recently had a little baby girl, and when she grows old enough I plan to give her these shows, so she can watch something that is a little bit more (a lot more, actually) than the **** they normally show on TV. I hope this is an expression of how high an opinion I have of this show.br /br /Reba McEntire is, as best I can see it, a true role-model for women, though she would probably attribute it largely to God, and her family. To me, she is not only a looker :), but just as importantly, a real lady, with both feet planted solidly on the ground - and a heart full of warmth. But words fall short. Get this, and I am sure you will fall for and admire Reba as much as I have - she leaves a special impact that can only be felt, I'm afraid - so, to reiterate, get this. The other cast members are also unusually talented all-round, the cast is just flat-out strong.br /br /Like any show, there are scenes that are more succesful, and some that are less - but overall, having seen the first two seasons, I walk away, not only satisfied, but also deeply grateful. This is the first time I have (and probably) said this of a TV show. And the reason why I want my niece to have it.br /br /I recommend it highly. I know no show which is better.br /br /I am a clumsy writer and I apologize for that - these words simply cannot do the show justice. Please, take a chance and buy it. You'll love it.br /br /Sincerely,br /br /Jesper
