Filmed opera at its best! April 26, 2008
This is a fantastic movie. It is shot inside a studio (i.e. not outside or on an opera stage), but this does not reduce its quality. The singing is great the acting is outstandingly good and it is cut at a fast pace fitting to the music. br /br /A non-standard feature of the film is that every scene is preceded by a summary spoken by a(n off-screen) narrator. This summary is in German (which---being a native speaker of German---is fine for me). Since it also gives an interpretation along with the pure contents, it is not as tedious as it sounds. br /br /Altogether: A must-have for all who love filmed opera.
