Amazon.co.uk Review IJimmy Carr--Live Stand Up 2/I is yet another demonstration of just why its star is becoming one of Britain?s most popular live comics. Filmed at London?s Bloomsbury Theatre, it?s an act that?s not for the easily offended, but is bursting with laughs and some rapid-fire comeback lines. P Along the way, he delivers his sharp one-liners with admirable consistency, in his trademark deadpan style. Continuing to joke around subject matters that others would choose to leave well alone, he undoubtedly sails close to the wind, but succeeds through a combination of well-written material and superb delivery. His act holds the attention right from the off too, with an opening that sees him communicating with his audience via a giant screen. Trust us, it works. P And there?s an unexpected highlight on the DVD too, which almost eclipses the main event. The Comedy Idol programme sees Carr judging a stand-up talent content, which throws up genuine hilarity along with some of the strangest comedic acts you?re likely to have seen. P Mix in that, with the main act and generous dose of further bonus material, and IJimmy Carr--Live Stand Up 2/I not only offers tremendous entertainment, it?s excellent value too. Heed that 18 certificate, though.--IJon Foster/I

funny, but... August 18, 2008 This is better than his first stand up offering the year before. Here he sticks to traditional stand up, rather then the small ads, t-shirt slogan and member of audience asking questions on couch style material. He 'clearly does' use a lot of material from the first dvd (more so than any other comedian) so much so you are wondering if you are watching the 2004 dvd. But, he makes up for this by adding new material amongst the old stuff. This new material is good enough to make this a 4 star offering. Jimmy still picks on the front rows, and does this more so and is more ruthless than before. He adlibs brilliantly too when he gets responses from his victims. His material is not for the easily offended, or even the not so easily offended for that matter, and sometimes he does go too far. Overall however this is an entertaining 80 minutes of sharp observations of day to day life.
So funny January 2, 2008 Excellentbr /Best laughs in ages.br /If you are easily offended, don't buy as he has the 'old type' non-pc jokes, without being as nasty.br /10 stars
I agree......... August 20, 2006 2 out of 45 found this review helpful
......Jimmy wants to be the next Jack Dee.br /br /But here's the thing; Jack Dee is miserable, cynical, pessimistic, but ultimately lovable. Jimmy Carr is just Not funny br /br /No I'm not being ironic.br /br /Instead of watching this DVD, go and do some housework. It'll be more fun.
Brilliant, a superb second attempt. July 20, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Bottom line is if you liked Jimmy Carr's first stand up dvd then you will like this too. Pure genius. If you are easily offended then this isn't for you, but you would probably already have realised that. One thing that disapointed me slightly was when Jimmy tried to pass off a Ricky Gervais joke as his own, one about Carol Vorderman that Ricky used at one of the TV Awards ceremonies a couple of years ago. That's the only downside! BUY IT!
Don't forget the Bonus Bits June 11, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Jimmy Carr has got to be one of Britain's best comedians, opting more for clever one or two liners rather than the long stories of Eddie Izzard. Certainly jokes that you can remember and then pass off as your own (especially if you live in the US like I do).br /br /However one thing that no-one else seems to have mentioned is that the Bonus Materials are huge, you get his appearance on Taop gear, a show called "Comedy Idol" that I guess went out on Channel 4 at some time, plus his Comedy Central show (pretty much a mish mash of his Tour 1 and Tour 2 comedies but new for us 'mericans)br /br /
