a let down when you really think about it February 28, 2008 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
After such an astounding season of seinfeld with regards to season 5 the pressure was on season 6,to be fair i thought the show could cope with such a challenge, sadly i was let down.br /The series found a way of looking average for the first time, not every episode of course, far from it but the first disc contained some poor episodes and the introduction of Mr.Pitt as elaines boss was a poor decision as he is a terrible actor and his character is beyond annoying, too eccentric and just badly used.br /The four main characters all do well as one would expect and george is better than ever in just being george, clueless and neurotic and incapable of letting things that bother him pass.br /The series finds a high on disc two and the one hour best off is not a sham in any way, this show deserves a tribute and that was that, the final disc starts off well with 'the jimmy' being a very strong episode and certainly contender for episode of the series but falls a bit awkwardly with the final two episodes but in between there are sustained laughs and cringe worthy moments but they just dont sparkle like previous series, thankfully the show didnt die on its knees from here onwards ,this just didnt roll with the punches like it should,no real shame in that but thats my review, thanks.br /br /
Still great at episode no.100 November 20, 2006 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
Inevitably, perhaps, as Seinfeld passes its 100th episode, with Series 6 the quality doesn't always hit the heights that had been set before. The 'show about nothing' begins to resort to more situation-driven comedy, and Elaine's job working for Mr. Pitt is also a bit too much like those 'trapped' situations that form the basis of so many traditional sitcoms (and vaguely implausible for such a confident character), while two episodes are wasted on one of those 100th episode celebrations that consists of editing together highlights from the previous 99 - this works particularly badly when the sitcom doesn't rely on the 'grandstand' scenes and one-liners that make these things work.br /br /But even a below-par Seinfeld is still a five-star product which I'd recommend to anyone. What other sitcom would make a story out of 're-gifting'? Or someone else taking credit for buying someone a big salad? Or whether soup counts as a meal? Particular highlights here are The Race, The Label Maker, and The Beard - all of which will not only have you in stitches, but also make you in awe of the writers' ability to challenge what a sitcom should be about.
Does anyone know.... September 26, 2005 2 out of 78 found this review helpful
When series 5 and series 6 are going to be available combined, as a box set, as they are in the States? Is it worth it (and indeed possible!) to wait for that?
