Absolutely spot on writing. No moment is wasted. In the quiet moments you can hear the cogs turning in the heads of the characters. br /Quite, quite brilliant.br /br /(Pickles!)br /
Possibly the finest written comedy from the UK November 5, 2008
The fundamental requirement of any comedy is that the writing is of a high standard. Early Doors has a quality about it that transcends criticism. It is beautifully observed, understated, believable and optimistic. It is a comedy that makes you care for the characters, not just one or two of them but all of them.br /br /I would also suggest that the fact that this has not gained the wider public appreciation attained by he Royle Familly is another reason to love it - it has the cachet of a cult.

"Early Doors" won't have you rolling around the place laughing. Not a great advertisement for a comedy you might say but his works on a different level all together. You feel as if you have made new best friends and every time you meet them you glow internally and have a big stupid smile on your face externally. It's brilliance is its simplicity. Excellent characters, witty dialogue and observations so acute, this is one that will grow on you and stay with you. Absolutely love it. Very underrated.

Buy this DVD and you will not be sorry.br /One of the funniest things I've seen in ages.br /For me the stars are Winnie,the all-seeing,all-hearing,all-saying cleaner and choc-a-holic ,asmatic ,gossipy Jean,mother of landlord Ken.br /The two of them together are comedy gold.br /Its not the kind of comedy where you can see the laughs coming ,a bit like Royle Family or Pheonix Nights in a way but, like them,you have to watch a few times to see the bits you've missed from laughing the first time round.br /br /I really wish they would make another series.br /BUY THIS TODAYbr /br /

If you enjoyed the Royle Famiy, you will like this British Comedy. br /They have used the best of British comedy and character actors, in a well scripted and funny series. The quality is consistent throughout the 12 episodes
