Amazon.com Creepy, tense and enigmatic, Renny Harlin's iMindhunters/i is a grizzly cross between Agatha Christie's whodunnit classic iAnd Then There Were None/i and Jonathan Demme's horrifying iThe Silence of the Lambs/i. An interesting ensemble cast including Christian Slater (iWindtalkers/i), Jonny Lee Miller (iTrainspotting/i), L.L. Cool J (iHarlin's Deep Blue Sea/i)and Kathryn Morris (television's iCold Case/i) portray promising FBI profilers-in-training. Val Kilmer plays their ambiguous instructor putting the candidates through their paces and leaving them for a weekend on a spooky island, where those who survive a terrifying exercise--penetrating the mind of a serial killer via elaborate clues--will go to the head of the class. But the rules change when the students themselves turn out to be victims, bumped off one after another, the survivors half-mad with suspicion and paranoia that the murderer is one of their own. The film's concept is sound even if the execution (so to speak) gets out of hand with problems of logic. Among other things, none of these characters could possibly find time to pull off some of the psychopath's more complicated killing rituals. Quibbles aside, however, iMindhunters/i is particularly watchable if one is in the mood for a movie that plays mind games. i--Tom Keogh/i

So-So November 10, 2008 This film isn't too bad. I hadn't read any reviews before watching the film on DVD and didn't really know what to expect. In the opening minutes, I found myself groaning 'oh no, here we go again, another one of these generic films'. I watched on and about half an hour later, the film suddenly suprised me. Quite gruesome, quite unexpected...br /br /A word of warning though, once the action gets going parts of the film do become a little predictable. The film could have done with having more tension built in and the characters weren't really likeable enough so I wasn't bothered if there were all killed off. This film is not brilliant but the deaths are inventive. In many ways, the film set-up is a bit like House on Haunted Hill or Unknown where you get a bunch of people together in a confined space and one of them has to be the killer. Cabin fever insues as each of the trainees becomes more desperate to stay alive. Not bad worth a watch!
Awful! July 12, 2008 The characters in this movie are so called "professionals", as they are playing the part of trainee FBI Profilers. However, not one of them showed any professionalism you would expect from an FBI agent. None of them take an analytical view of the situation and quite frankly just act like a bunch of teenagers would in similar movies. They don't use any Profiling training they have gained thus far. The final thing I found disappointing was several of the major named actors died very early on in the movie. br /br /If you are bored for 2 hours with nothing else on TV, this is the movie for you. If you want a movie where you are not constantly questioning everything about it, don't buy this!
it's "agatha christie" good April 7, 2008 If you have ever read or seen the Agatha Christie "And then there were none" then this will be familiar. It's working out who's doing the murders thats the great part - keeps you going until the end.br /br /A great film, and some extras.
KEEPS YOU GUESSING January 11, 2008 This is a great film but some of the actors could have been better chosen. Lots of guessing what is going to happen next. A plot within a plot it seems. Fully enjoyable but concentrate whilst watching: lots of small details. Fully recommended
a bit pants September 14, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Completely ridiculous scenario coupled with unrealistic actors chosen to play FBI profilers results in a less than entertaining film. I think the film would have been better if they had chosen actors who fitted the roles of highly intelligent and highly commited trainee FBI profilers rather than a cast who suit a 'roadtrip' type movie. I mean all I have to say is a scruffy Val Kilmer with long hair plays the mastermind FBI trainer in this film. br /br /An attempt to try and make the characters overly intelligent results in them seeming overly unintelligent. The plot centres around traps set within a building complex that outwits all the FBI agents. Why not leave the complex? br /br /watch this film at your own risk, it will waste your time :)
