This is my favourite bad film. I bought it on VHS many years ago and torture myself by watching it from time to time. The technical burb about bikes in the film is pure nonsense. Also its a hoot that before coming into pocession of said "dream machine" our man David Essex was running Suzuki and all its racing might a close second on an old wreck he had cobbled together in his garage. Then we have the theme song, probably one of the worst ever aside from Dont Bug Me played at the end of arachnophobia. The ending is also ludicrous and totally unbelievable its as if the writers had given up. I did think Beau Bridges was quite good as the sneeering Californian nasty whose got it in for our Dave. So to sum up, this film is so trully awful its laughable. Buy it only if you like throwing your money away.

I haven't seen this movie since the 80's and honestly I had forgotten the ending so it came as quite a horrible shock! It did 'make' the movie for me though and the 2 hours I spent watching it went quickly. I love a good old British flick and this really is a good one. It also evoked memories of that era .I have always been a David Essex fan when it comes to his live gigs but I had forgotten how good he was in this. He really was perfect for the role of Nick Freeman.I enjoyed the film and would recommend it.

This isn't really a review, more of a question for anyone who has seen this 2006 edition. Does this DVD feature the original ending? because I don't want to buy it if it hasn't. Me and my partner watched it recently and he was right put out that the ending had been chopped. Thanks.
Classic film that will haunt you afterwards April 24, 2006

This film brings back fond memories and whether you are a bike fan or not will probably haunt you had you watched it back in the day. I am delighted it has come onto DVD as I lost my copy years ago. I always had a soft spot for David Essex, not the greatest actor by any stretch of the imagiation! However the magic and charm of the film lets him get away with it. Everyone has a dream and this film follows his to compete in the race of a lifetime...very moving and a delight...watch it!!
