Amazon.co.uk Review This live-action version of EB White's novel doesn't have quite the magic of, say, IToy Story/I. Instead of entertainment the whole family can be enthralled with, IStuart Little/I is squarely aimed, and successfully so, at the four to 10-year-old viewer. Does this make it a bad family film? Not in the slightest. The gee-whiz visual effects (created by original IStar Wars/I wizard John Dykstra) and the film's ebullient wholesomeness make this a welcome addition to the home library. p In EB White's world, it's hardly surprising that human parents would adopt "outside their species". The smooth-talking mouse Stuart (voiced by Michael J Fox) seems the perfect new child for parents Geena Davis and Hugh Laurie, especially with an adorable wardrobe of very small sweaters and pants. Stuart has more difficulty fitting in with the Little's family cat, Snowbell (voiced by Nathan Lane, who also deftly voiced Timon in director Rob Minkoff's last feature, IThe Lion King/I). The simple story deals with Stuart trying to fit in with his new life, including big brother George (IJerry Maguire/I's scene-stealing Jonathan Lipnicki). And of course there's an adventure when Snowbell's schemes put Stuart into real danger from the devious plans of an alley cat named Smokey (voiced by Chazz Palminteri). Brisk--85 minutes--amusing and tolerably cute, IStuart Little/I stands tall. Two curios: The effects are so cleanly done that we could call Stuart the first successfully computer-animated actor, and the screenplay was co-written by M Night Shyamalan, who made bigger waves in 1999 writing and directing IThe Sixth Sense/I. --IDoug Thomas, Amazon.com/I

My only disappointment..... December 26, 2007 is that i'd heard Brian Setzer (Rockabilly/swing/God) was going to be in this movie! My favourite guitarest does appear....but only in the music extras on the dvd. That's crimanal because the 'If you can't rock me' by the Brian Setzer Orchestra (and featuring Stuart Little bopping away to my idol) is absolutely classic 5 star stuff! Check out the music extras and you'll see what i'm talkin' about. Perhaps it was including in the American release? Anyway, Michael j. Fox is a hero of mine since 'Back to the future' and he does a great job bringing the voice of the little mouse to life. Out of the 3 Stuart Little movies, this is definately the best. I just wish they'd used 'If you can't rock me' in the end credits or something instead of Lou Bego's 'mambo part 2.
Nice kiddy movie June 24, 2007 This is a great movie for parents to watch with their kids. How can you not even like this film. Even with stars in here like Geena Davis, Hugh Laurie, Michael J. Fox, Jonthan Lipnicki, Dabeney Coleman, Julia Sweeney and Patch Adams' Harold Gould. As the movie opens, Mr. Little and Mrs. Little (Hugh Laurie and Geene Davis) decide to adopt a younger brother for George Little (Jonthan Lipnicki). But instead of coming home with a boy, they come home with a mouse they named Stuart Little (voice of Michael J. Fox). And the family cat named Snowbell (voice of Nathan Lane) doesn't like the idea of having Stuart Little as a master instead of lunch.
There's a mouse in the house October 22, 2003 This is a fantastic DVD! The film is a children's classic - great acting, and humour that works equally well for adults (which is important if you're going to have to watch it 30 times!). The story is simple, and there is a good blend of action, slapstick and witty dialogue. What sets the DVD apart is the additional content - music, games, interactive insights into the animator's art and commentary - all of which is of a high quality and genuinely interesting to (my) children.
Good fun and an excellent kids film June 26, 2003 I'm over the target age for this movie (19) but I still enjoyed it. It's got a really bright cartoony look to it and in places it's really quite funny. Of course, being a kids film, it's quite predictable for a grown up viewer but it's still enjoyable. Michael J Fox is great as the voice of Stuart and Hugh Laurie and Geena Davis are superb as his adoptive parents. Jonathon Lipniki was quite irritating for me but he did was he was supposed to do and gave the funky computer mouse something to play with. I liked it and if you've got kids, or you are one, then you could do a lot worse than this.
Good all round family entertainment October 16, 2001 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this video last Christmas for my 2 children - a 5 yr old girl and 3 yr old boy. I was expecting a short lived interest but I couldn't have been more wrong. It seems to cover all age groups and is one of the few films they will both sit and watch together. Nearly a year later they still ask to watch it on a regular basis - their favourite line being "A mouse with a pet cat!" It is an enchanting and funny film with some wonderful lines and brilliant special effects. Although aimed at children, I must admit to my husband and I sneakily watching it as well (let's just say we are over 40!)
