Nice to watch July 17, 2008 Dawn French and Catherine Tate, you would think this is the best comedy show ever. Well in fact it's not. It is nice intelligent comedy-drama where you don't get much audience laugh. You have to laugh without help.

Okay, 'Wild West' isn't The Vicar Of Dibley' or 'The Catherine Tate Show'. It resembles neither show in any way, apart from it features the leads from both of those shows, but that's where the similarities end.
Wild West is quite a strange little series which really needs to be given time for it to get inside your head. It has a similar feel to the recent BBC1 series 'Jam & Jerusalem' (also starring Dawn French) which may be because it is also set in the West Country.
If you like quirky little comedies that don't signpost their punchlines then you might like 'Wild West'. Then again you might not. I certainly like it.
In summary, if you are a fan of dross like 'My Family' then avoid 'Wild West' like the plague.

i didnt see the tv series on tv but decided to buy it because i love dawn and catherines work...
its set in a small west country hamlet...two lesbains run a shop..plus a few locals!
but is it funny!...i have to say and it hurts me to say it..but not that funny! probably why i didnt see it on tv!
maybe you have watch it a few times!
anyone expecting the vicar of dibley or catherine tate show will be disappointed! sorry!!!
Great show July 19, 2006 16 out of 20 found this review helpful
I have seen this show on tv, and after watching 5 minutes i thought it was a terrible show. I was a big fan of vicar of dibley, but was not impressed with show. Untill recently, when I picked up season 1 in a store for $10 (Australian) and was hooked by the 3rd episode. The acting is realy good, and the stories although a little strange are funny and interesting. The second season I found was better than the first, but appreciated the 1st more after watching the 2nd.
I would rate this dvd set 5 stars but theres a some things lacking. first there are no extras on the DVD, there are no listings of the episodes in the case or printed on the dvd label. And also i would have liked them to release the second season seperatly.
