Amazon.co.uk Review The third series of the con drama Hustle finds the team in confident form. The premise remains pretty much unaltered, as a team of con artists plan and execute an increasingly elaborate and well-plotted collection of jobs. But the fun as always is in the execution, with a lively cast making the show hard to resist.Season three features six episodes, with some real highlights to be found. As always, the series finale is just brilliant, leaving you salivating for the fourth season, but surely the episode finding Mickey and Danny naked in the midst of London will go down as one of the best that Hustle?s ever managed to rustle up. Running richly through the duration of the series though are the trademark features that have made Hustle as popular as it is: tightly woven plots, carpet-pulling twists, clever writing and a cast who seem to be having a whale of a time making the show. Is series three up to the standards of the two that preceded it? Absolutely it is, with Robert Vaughn and Adrian Lester on top form, and even the likes of Richard Chamberlain dropping in too. Both consistent, and hugely entertaining, it leaves you positively salivating for Hustle series four? --Jon Foster

Robbed you wont be August 26, 2008 From the makers of Spooks, and Life on Mars, Hustle is again, a cut aabove. The BBC shows it can screen some pretty impressive stuff, with the twists and turns, the focus on detail and plot development. The result - a group of characters, that by today's standards are some of the most hated people in society, and shows a 'human' side, unlike anything ever shown before, using ideas like, 'Never Cheat an Honest Man'. The characters are well chosen, and the on-screen chemistry is over-flowing. Adrian Lester plays Michael Stones, GBH convicted leader of the group of long and short con-artists. Marc Warren (a.k.a Pvt. Blithe - 'Band of Brothers') once again, lives up to his standard, and plays convincingly, the over-eager, full-of-himself Danny Blue. Each wonderfully crafted episode will keep you guessing right up until the end. A top quality series. One thing you wont be is conned if you buy this, it will remain your most prized investment for many a year.
Is it slipping? October 29, 2007 Hustle is a fantastic series based around a group of con artists working in London. This being series three, it's not one I'd recommend starting with - while the episodes do stand alone it's nice to be aware of various pieces of backstory.
Whether this series lives up to the previous two is a question that's been thrown around a lot. The kneejerk reaction is no, it doesn't, but actually some of these episodes have really grown on me with rewatching. There's a nice variety here, from the light plot of dropping two characters naked in the middle of London to see who can make the most money in a day to an intricate scheme involving shares and inside dealing. This does mean that there's an episode of Hustle to suit quite a variety of moods.
It's compulsory to apply the adjective 'slick' when reviewing Hustle, and it still deserves it. The production style is unmistakable and one of the pleasures of watching the show - there are plenty of distinctive tricks in use. The cons still have the ability to keep you guessing, but there's substance underneath. Even on the rewatch, when you know what's about to happen, the show keeps the attention.
So, while the programme has perhaps slipped a little from the early days, it's still unmistakably Hustle - clever, funny and very stylish.
Brilliant Beautiful and Clever May 17, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Amazing series just gets better with more and more famous people such as Richard Chamberlain and Mel Smith. The cons for a change dont always go as planned especially when one is dropped off in London with no clothes on. The scams just get better and better and Jaime Murray is as gorgeous as ever. Really great that the whole cast looks as though they are enjoying themselves and take equal part in all the episodes. I watched the first 3 back to back which were brilliant 'who needs the Ocean series when you have far classier tv series like this.
Another dose of high energy fun. April 25, 2007 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
Thankfully, this third series proves that Hustle is still one of the coolest and most entertaining shows the BBC has produced in a long time.
The stories are the usual high tempo stuff with an ending which comes as genuinely surprising. The characters are all as likeable as ever. Even when you wrestle with the ethics of the fact they are committing crimes (however they try and justify it) you always want them to succeed. There is plenty of humour throughout the series which is very well written and never feels forced.
If you enjoyed the first two series then this is a must buy.
Stylish fun April 23, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Hustle is one of those TV dramas which the BBC seems to excel at. Slick, stylish, and witty.
If you like to watch something which is funny, yet intelligent, then this could be the DVD for you.
The interplay between the main characters is very much based around friendly rivalry as they try to make ore on a hustle than the others. They are con-artists, but they have a strict moral code. They are a bit like a modern day Robin Hood, but they don't necessarily give it to the poor!
Highlights in this series for me were episodes 1 (where Mickey and Danny are dropped off naked in the middle of the city), Episode 3 (the bank job) and Episode 6 with its fantastically funny ending! The other episodes weren't weak either, this was a great series.
Who thought conmen could be so glamourous!
