excellent bond minus the extras disk May 24, 2008

The World Is Not Enough is one of the best of the more recent Bond films. Pierce Brosnan gives perhaps his best performance as James bond - it's nice to see a darker and more ruthless Bond, but still have the occasional one line quip. The supporting cast as also excellent - Dame Judi Dench gets a much larger role as M in this film, Robert Carlyle and Sophie Marceau are great as the villians Renard and Electra. br /br /The story moves at a fairly fast pace with some great action pieces - the ski chase and the saw blade helicopter chase are my faverites. The film also has one of the best (and longest) pre credit sequences. The theme some is also one of the best. In fact there is very little I can fault on this film except perhaps Denise Richards is rather wooden as Dr Christmas Jones.br /br /The dvd is the vanila one disk release but still is remastered with audio commentary tracks featuring the director Michael Apted and a second track with some of the film crew. So if you are a Bond fan or just like a good action film but cant be doing with the extras, then this dvd is for you. Thanks for reading my review.

Brosnan's Darkest Bond September 8, 2007

After the anti-climatic Tommorrow Never Dies, Brosan's Bond hit back with a bang with Tommorrow Never Dies. br /br /It doesn't matter that the idea of having a bullet lodged in your brain makes you stronger as it slowly kills you is ludicrous, it matters little that the final set piece isn't exactly brilliant and it doesn't even matter that the whole idea of Denise Richards as a Nuclear Scientist is too ludicrous for even a Bond film...br /br /All that matters is that this is one of the most action packed, stunt filled films in the series. br /br /My only real criticism is that the flim never seems to quite know if it's aiming to be a joke-filled romp a la Roger Moore or a serious attempt to uncover Bond's dark edge. If it had truly concentrated on one or the other this could have been very special indeed.
