Really Making Waves October 22, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
How refreshing it is to see a great little film about real everyday people facing the dilemmas we're familiar with, the insecurities, the search for acceptance and the ultimate pursuite of contentment, companionship and love. A great deal sweater, more satisfying and touching than watching aristocratic buffoons stuck in the oh so tricky existence of the west london elite! Equally touching is the story behind the film it would seem, I see that the director lost his battle with cancer a year after shooting was finished, never getting to witness his first films release. A real tragedy.br /He has left behind a debut to relish. Robert Hardy turns in a great performance as always with all the warmth and charm you would expect. Craig Henderson and Susie Benton make a delightful duo, while Tom Bacon, better known for harder, darker roles, makes a hilariously calamitous sidekick. All in all a great ensamble of talent. I highly recommend this little triumph against the odds, an independent British film achieving the relaese it deserves. I guess the industry in the UK isn't dead yet!
Very enjoyable film - buy it now! October 22, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I watched this at a private screening last night and really enjoyed it. Well acted, well directed, well shot, well paced and well scripted, without the long drawn-out soppy ending that ruins so many new films. If you've enjoyed films like "The Station Master", "Four Weddings" etc, you'll enjoy this.br /br /Made with a tiny budget, the quality is right up with much bigger films. Obviously no gimicks, but a great soundtrack. Overall, this is a great 'feel good' film!br /br /I don't often buy DVDs, but I have ordered this online so my wife can watch it too. I recommend you do the same.
Saw this at a test screening October 18, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Saw this at a test screening with girlfriend. We laughed more than we did when we saw My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Sad that the director died. Apparently this movie had a load of money put in by Sony to polish it and I really liked it before it got bought by them so I recommend it.
"Making Waves" will make waves October 10, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
A beautifully shot feel-good British film with a quirky plot. If you are a fan of movies like Notting Hill and Four Weddings then you will love this tale and it's melodic original soundtrack. A great watch from an up-and-coming team bursting with talent.
Brilliant home-grown romantic comedy October 9, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
What a gem! This DVD would make an ideal Christmas or Birthday present for any Mum, Granny or sister. Charming and witty... the best british film that i have seen sinse Four Weddings and a Funeral, with a refreshing cast of rising stars.br /Jodie, in The New Forest, UK.
