PLOT SUMMARY: A wild, freeform, Rabelaisian trip through the darkest recesses of Edinburgh low-life, focusing on Mark Renton and his attempt to give up his heroin habit, and how the latter affects his relationship with family and friends: Sean Connery wannabe Sick Boy, dimbulb Spud, psycho Begbie, 14-year-old girlfriend Diane, and clean-cut athlete Tommy, who's never touched drugs but can't help being curious about them... ABOUT THE DVD: This is a UNIVERSAL PICTURES 2 DISC SPECIAL EDITION release for the NETHERLANDS market (Region 2 PAL format, which is the same as in the UK, so it will play without problems on all standard DVD players in this country). The text on the rear of the packaging is in Dutch. The 1st disc contains the main feature which is presented in WIDESCREEN format (1.85:1 ratio) and runs for 90 minutes, menus are in ENGLISH (with French and Dutch options also available) and the AUDIO is in the original ENGLISH language (or dubbed in French if required!). SUBTITLES on the disc are English, French or Dutch (or they can be switched off, of course). There is a SCENE SELECTION menu on the DVD, and a DIRECTOR'S COMMENTARY (in English, French or Dutch). The 2nd disc contains the EXTRAS, including the film's original theatrical trailer, a Retrospective (featuring 'Then' and 'Now' looks at the look and sound of the film), 'The Making Of Trainspotting' and cast Biographies.
