Amazon.co.uk Review
What better way to commemorate iStar Wars/i' 30th anniversary than with this double-length Very Special Episode, a full-scale, awesomely animated spoof that recasts George Lucas's saga with iFamily Guy/i's galaxy of characters: Chris (Seth Green) is Luke; Lois (Alex Borstein) is Princess Leia; Peter (Seth McFarlane) is Han Solo, but not, as expected, Jabba the Hut; Brian (Seth, again) is Chewbacca; Quagmire (and again, Seth) is C3PO; Cleveland is R2D2; Herbert, the creepy senior paedophile, is Obi-Wan (both voiced by Mike Henry); and, of course, Stewie (Seth, one more time) is Darth Vader ("My diapers have gone over to the dark side"). Poor Meg is reduced to a cameo as the hideous reptilian creature that haunts the garbage compactor. p/piBlue Harvest/i is reverently faithful to iA New Hope/i, while engaging in typical iFamily Guy/i pop-culture references (everything from old commercials to iDoctor Who/i, iAirplane/i, iDirty Dancing/i, and iDeal or No Deal/i) and bizarre digressions (the iconic opening crawl detours into an appreciation of a "way naked" Angelina Jolie in iGia/i). Along for the wild ride are Judd Nelson, who contributes a voice cameo as John Bender for a iBreakfast Club/i gag, Rush Limbaugh railing against futuristic affirmative action on Tatooine talk radio, and Beverly D'Angelo and Chevy Chase as the vacationing Griswolds observing the rebellion from their orbiting station wagon. A iStar Wars/i spoof in 2007 isn't exactly uncharted territory. As Chris Griffin notes in this episode's final moments, iRobot Chicken/i brilliantly did it months earlier (and let us not forget Mel Brooks's iSpaceballs/i from 1987; or, on second thought...). But the Force is strong with iFamily Guy/i, and who could resist the opportunity to hear the Muzak playing in a Death Star elevator? i--Donald Liebenson, Amazon.com/i

5 out of 5 stars VERY FUNNY   December 6, 2008
I bought this today and really enjoyed it, I was lucky as I bought the version with free t-shirt as well. To be honest I havent laughed so much in a long time, and it was worth every penny.

1 out of 5 stars One of those few idiots...   October 31, 2008

After finally convincing my brother to watch an episode of Family Guy, infuriatingly it turned out to be this one. It's really not up to the standard I've come to expect of the series' writers, it was pretty lame, really, obviously written by Star Wars fans for Star Wars fans. Now he refuses to watch it at all and thinks I'm daft for liking it. Crud.

5 out of 5 stars 5 stars is not enough!   October 24, 2008

I have to say, this was even better than I expected. I was laughing so hard (a rare occurance in most movies) that I actually had to stop the DVD to take a breather, my sides hurt so badly :-) It's not just Star Wars, there are even a few more clever film references throughout, with Airplane (another favourite of mine) popping up more than once. This is the combination of probably 2 of the best things I could watch, Family Guy and Star Wars.... who needs anything more?

4 out of 5 stars Great but more Star Wars than Family Guy and so short   September 5, 2008

and I was surprised it was so short, being 45 minutes and only Episode 4. I had for some reason thought it was 75 minutes and the first three films. Also don't expect the anarchy and comedy of regular Family Guy episodes, I would say it is more a homage to Star Wars with Family Guy overlaid.br /br /The storyline, script and even some shots closely if not exactly follow the film and this is where I enjoyed it as they are so well done. I didn't really laugh like I do with regular FG, but it is a different product and should be viewed as such.br /br /I am guessing that they will eventually do the other films depending on the success of this and whilst I would say it is worth the cost of a rental I really can't say it is worth purchasing at only 45 minutes for the disc itself.br /br /So for Star Wars fans - a must see, FG fans - not so sure, they will probably be disappointed as with other reviewers, anyone else - I think it would be lost on them.

1 out of 5 stars spat in the face   August 29, 2008

after stewie griffon the untold story i was mildly offended by the family guy producers. it wasnt a a film of any description just 3 episodes played back to back and as a massive family guy fan that simply wasnt good enough. this was a new low; 14 for a 45 minute episode with jokes that fell short of the series anyway was and absolute insult. both futurama and the simpsons managed to pull off a passable feature length and the lazy approach seen here i think shows how little the producers regard the fans.br /dont buy this at all!!! its not even very entertaining. besides it will probably just be on BBC 3 some time soon.
